THE Jockey Injury Surveillance Study is appealing for all point-to-point riders to fill out an online survey.
The JISS is a research group focused on identifying and preventing injuries in both professional and amateur jockeys, and this latest piece of research is looking to examine injuries suffered by amateur jockeys outside of races.
Led by Dr Siobhán O’Connor, an Assistant Professor in Athletic Therapy and Training at DCU, the team of investigators also includes Dr Sarah Jane Cullen, Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology at Waterford Institute of Technology; Dr Giles Warrington, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at University of Limerick; and IHRB Medical Officers, Dr Jennifer Pugh and Dr Adrian McGoldrick.
The confidential survey will take between just eight and 10 minutes to complete and can be accessed online via the JISS website: www.jockeyinjurystudy.wixsite.com/website or by searching for JISS Study on social media.
