Alison Corr

What is your earliest point-to-point memory?

Good question. It would have to be Tyrella in 1994 or 1995 with the local trainer Michael Gillan.

What is your favourite point-to-point track?

Taylorstown.

Tell me how you first got involved with point-to-pointing

Through Michael. He brought a few thoroughbreds to Warrenpoint and that’s how I got into it. I got on my first horse when I was 13 or 14.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Same as now, working away. Just shoeing and tipping away on my horses.

How many horses do you have?

I have four horses of my own. I just bought them and they are to race and sell on.

Who was your hero as a child?

My hero as a child was Richard Dunwoody. He’s a brilliant rider

What do you do when you aren’t involved in the point-to-point?

Well I’ve a new child so I spend as much time with her and my wife as well.

If you could have three people over for dinner who would they be? (We tried for four)

Conor McGregor, I find him very interesting, quite funny too. Mikey Tyson I suppose. A few comics. Maybe Keith Lemon and James Cordon.

If you weren’t in the racing industry, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?

It’d be very boring. I don’t know what I would have done.

I probably would have ended up in the army or farming. I wouldn’t be able for a boring job inside.

What’s your weirdest pet peeve?

I won’t drink out of anyone elses bottle. My whole life I’ve never been able to do it.

What is your most treasured possession?

My baby.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Easy going, hardworking, and a bit moody too.

Would you like if your daughter became interested in horses?

Do whatever pleases her I won’t make her do it if she doesn’t like them.

Do you have any advice for your daughter as she grows up?

Work hard and be polite.
