Dear Sir, Our rescheduled point-to-point meeting was held at Newcastle, Oldcastle on Sunday, May 20th. We were definitely one of the lucky ones as running a month later meant getting super entries due to some hunts unfortunately not being in a position to reschedule and horses needing to get runs.
As a committee we feel the need to write to express heartfelt thanks to those who helped make the day the success it turned out to be.
Firstly our landowner, Paul Cosgrove. The fodder crisis this year left so many farmers under pressure and Paul was no different, however he kept his animals in for an extra couple of weeks to allow us to turn a field in Co Meath to a race course for a day.
The owners and trainers who support us year after year and trusted that we would do whatever we could to get the ground fit for racing.
The jockeys who rode were the most mannerly group of individuals and credit must be given to them. The Turf Club stewards, Niall, Andrew and Frankie and the INHS representative Robert for their support and guidance throughout the day.
To the vets, doctors and the Meath Civil Defence who gave their day free of charge. Those who spent the previous week getting the course ready for racing and those who carried out their responsibilities on the day with the contentious attention these tasks deserves coupled with a smile and good humour.
To the guys in Irish Point-to-Point Services who are a pleasure to deal with and the spectators and supporters that help create the atmosphere
And finally a special thanks to our sponsors who continue to support us and allow the hunt to create the event it has become today.
So until the next time.
The Ballymacad Hunt.
