GOLDEN DRUMLEE (IRE)
4yo ch g - Golden Lariat - Geraldine’s Pet (Old Vic)
Proving that it is still possible to compete in four-year-old maidens with an inexpensive purchase, Golden Drumlee was purchased by his owner/handler Sean McParlan for just €600 at the Tattersalls Ireland February Sale in 2013 having been bred by Thomas Henry. The first foal of an unraced Old Vic mare who is a half-sister to James McAuley’s Tattersalls five-year-old geldings’ maiden winner Mo Chapall Glas, Golden Drumlee is a half-brother to Bellinter, who finished placed in a Castletown-Geoghegan maiden for Tucker Geraghty in 2014. This was a second four-year-old success for Golden Lariat who also sired last season’s Belharbour winner Dingo Dollar, the first of what are now his three winners between the flags.

Bought by his handler Liam Kenny for €7,000 as a store at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, Jalamie is out of a half-sister to Ask Me Sister, who picked-up blacktype for the family when finishing third in the Grade 3 Dawn Run novices’ chase at Thurles in 2012.

BORDEAUX BILL (IRE)
5yo b/br g - Craigsteel - Laura Croft
Trained by John Berry, Bordeaux Bill was a €4,000 purchase as a three-year-old at the Goffs Land Rover Sale in 2014, and he is out of a Mister Lord mare who won a mares’ maiden at Durrow on Good ground in the hands of JD Moore some 14 years ago. Her dam is also a half-sister to Halfpenny Bridge, a Grade 3 winner for Noel Meade, and Crosschild, who produced Cara Mara, a horse who picked-up blacktype for Berry, while also winning a total of six races under rules.
It was a second successive victory for Craigsteel in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dowth Hall following the success of the Liz Doyle-trained Tomngerry in the corresponding race 12 months earlier. That bay gelding was later purchased by Brian Ellison, following his maiden success, for £30,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale, and has subsequently won four of his five races for Ellison, including a brace of bumpers and twice in novice hurdles.
