10:31 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes Presented By Hpibet (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Turf) 1m4f

There is one British runner in the Northern Dancer Stakes which, in the absence of star performer Flintshire, sees the second division of turf horses in action.

Majeed runs for David Simcock and Jamie Spencer but would have to step up on his second in a Windsor listed race.

World Approval was very consistent before disappointing behind Mondialiste last time. He would give the Mark Casse stable a possible Grade 1 double.

Big Blue Kitten has the form to win this but has failed to show his best this season. On his best form, a win in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes at Belmont, Wake Forest would have a chance.

The Pizza Man, the popular Arlington Million winner of last year should also be involved over a more suitable distance.

Local runner Camp Creek is on a hat-trick.

Champion mare Tepin drew the outside stall and has been installed odds-on favourite under Julien Leparoux in the 20th running of the $1 million Woodbine Mile.

Tepin is on a seven-race win streak and beat the boys in last year’s Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile and in her last outing in June, in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. Even if slightly below form, she should have too much class for this field.

Arod, another English runner, is the 10/1 third choice, from stall three. He has yet to win in four starts this year, but was an improved third in the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood. His usual front-running style could be well-suited to the small field and tactical race.

Juddmonte’s Full Mast is also around is 10/1. He was a troubled fourth as the favourite in the Grade 2 King Edward here in July for trainer Bill Mott.

Off a second in a Group 3, the French runner Mr. Owen represents Francis Rohaut. He finished sixth in last year’s Woodbine Mile.

Rounding out the field are the locals outsiders Glenville Gardens, Passion for Action, and Tower Of Texas.
