1.55 Giddyup And Switch To Fibrus Mares Maiden Hurdle

2m 3f 170yds

Nastya should be capable of opening her account in this contest. The Henry de Bromhead-trained mare has shaped with encouragement in each of her three starts over flights to date. As a former point-to-point winner, she should appreciate stepping back up in trip having finished second over two-miles last time out.

Getaways Charm has to rate a serious threat given that Gordon Elliott had a number of entries. With the leading trainer relying on the five-year-old, it is surely of some significance.

SELECTION: NASTYA

Mickey Cohen has shown enough in his short career to date to suggest that he can win races. Noel Meade’s charge will get few better opportunities to register an opening success.

The son of U S Navy Flag ran one of his better races on his only previous visit here when fourth in a maiden on the flat last May.

T Or Coffey shaped with definite future promise when third over hurdles at Killarney in August. Although yet to replicate that effort, Paul Mulligan’s gelding showed that he had a race of this nature in him at some point.

Howdoyalikeherhome, who shaped with plenty of encouragement on his recent stable debut, holds strong claims. Having shown ability earlier in his career under rules, the gelding subsequently finished runner-up on two point-to-point outings for former connections.

Also declared for Bellewstown on Saturday, the six-year-old should take beating if lining up here.

Tell Nobody Nothin has thus far failed to add to his Downpatrick maiden success from September.

However, Noel Meade’s gelding has hinted on more than one occasion that he should be able to exploit a mark of 107 over hurdles.

The locally-trained Kalsman can add a second career win for Liam Lennon. Successful at Downpatrick on his penultimate start, the seven-year-old ran a creditable race back at that same venue off an 8lb higher mark last time.

A proven stayer, who handles better ground, the son of Kalanisi should give Caragh Monaghan a good spin.

Thurles runner-up Stretchemout has every chance if reproducing that effort. Gordon Elliott’s mare failed to back up that run at Downpatrick last time but not every horse handles the undulations of that latter track.

SELECTION: KALSMAN

Next best: Stretchemout

Piped Piper should prove difficult to beat if taking to chasing.

Gordon Elliott’s seven-year-old was a solid graded performer over hurdles in his prime.

Having acquitted himself well in high-class handicaps both on the flat and over flights in recent seasons, he still has enough time on his side to make an impact as a chaser.

Point-to-point winner Encanto Bruno had excuses when a beaten odds-on favourite on his fencing debut at Gowran Park. Gavin Cromwell’s gelding will appreciate these conditions, so has to rate a definite threat to the Elliott representative.

SELECTION: PIED PIPER

The Paul Nolan-trained Jasmin De Cotte is entitled to be a lot sharper from his recent outing at Fairyhouse. Off the track since finishing third in a well contested handicap chase at Leopardstown in December, the former point-to-point runner-up remains fairly handicapped. With the Nolan stable continuing in good form, the six-year-old can add a second win over fences.

Limerick winner Banprionsa is a lightly raced mare with the potential to do better as a chaser. The former point-to-point winner had reached the frame on her first two starts over fences before opening her account at the third time of asking.

SELECTION: JASMIN DE COTTE

Next best: Banprionsa

Made In The Woods was disappointing last time at Limerick but his previous effort at that same track would give Norman Lee’s gelding every chance of adding to his sole success over fences. Gary Noonan, who gets on particularly well with the eight-year-old son of Virtual, is a definite plus in the saddle.

Course winner School Lane has yet to win over this trip under rules but as a three-time point-to-point scorer the locally-trained gelding should have little difficulty staying the extra yardage.

SELECTION: MADE IN THE WOODS

Next best: School Lane
