2.10 Golf Classics At Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle 2m 30y
Former French flat winner Grimaud should be good enough to open his account. Having shown definite ability on his first two starts over flights, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding stepped up on that form when runner-up at Fairyhouse last time. Given that he would have been even closer but for a mistake at the last, a similar effort should see him recover losses.
Captain Ryan Matt improved on his initial outing, when finishing second to an odds-on favourite last time. With both the third and fourth horses having previously run well in similar contests, that was arguably a fair maiden.
SELECTION: GRIMAUD

2.40 Lord Bagenal Hotel Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 30y
Although coming with a health warning, the Anthony McCann-trained Whimsy is the most likely winner. A three-time scorer on the flat, the mare ruined her chances when very slowly away at Punchestown last month. Recovering to eventually finish runner-up, she is a strong contender if she can get away on level terms here.
Innatendue, a dual bumper winner in France, has to be respected on her first start for Henry de Bromhead. Although yet to win from 15 starts over flights, the daughter of Spanish Moon has been placed on nine occasions.
SELECTION: WHIMSY
Next best: Innatendue
3.15 HPR Fleet Management Handicap Hurdle 2m 30y
Despite an absence of 630 days, it could pay to take a chance on Bal Kauto. A dual winner over fences when last seen, the Declan Queally-trained eight-year-old is able to race off a 22lb lower mark in this discipline. Although his long absence is an obvious cause for concern, the gelding is unlikely to be found wanting coming from this yard.
Handicap debutant Lynchy Boy has shown enough in three maidens to suggest he can get involved. Philip Fenton’s six-year-old, who has been placed on his two most recent outings, wouldn’t need to improve a great deal.
SELECTION: BAL KAUTO
Next best: Lynchy Boy
3.50 BoyleSports Money Back On Every Race At Cheltenham Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f
Recent Fairyhouse runner-up Kingkong Ciergues holds leading claims of going one better. Philip Rothwell’s gelding travelled strongly into that race, finding plenty for pressure before only narrowly losing out. Although raised 3lb for that effort, he can effectively race off 2lb lower here, once his rider’s claim is taken into account.
Limerick scorer Knockbrack Rambler is on a career high mark following that success. However, the Brendan Walsh-trained eight-year-old has to be of interest in a race where few arrive here in such fine form.
SELECTION: KINGKONG CIERGUES
Next best: Knockbrack Rambler
4.25 Holden Plant Rentals Shamrock Handicap Chase 2m
Having shown gradual improvement since switching to fences, One Last Tango can gain a first win in that discipline. Runner-up at Down Royal last time, the form of his previous fourth at Leopardstown has been boosted subsequently. From a mark 9lb below his hurdles rating, the eight-year-old has to be of interest. Locally trained Rebel Gold may not be the force of old, but has to be considered under his excellent claimer.
With Alex Harvey taking 5lb off, the 12-year-old will find this easier than recent assignments.
SELECTION: ONE LAST TANGO
Next best: Rebel Gold
5.00 INHSC Supporting Point-To-Points Tetratema Cup Hunters Chase 3m 1f
Although slightly disappointing at Naas last time, the lightly-raced Big Interest has more scope than his rivals. An impressive winner on his previous start at Down Royal, the six-year-old has the potential to make up into a leading hunter-chaser in the coming seasons.
Despite taking on some established performers here, David Christie’s charge gets the vote.
Recent Oldtown point-to-point winner Early Doors rates the chief threat. Runner-up in this race last year, the Enda Bolger-trained, former Galway Plate victor, represents leading connections.
SELECTION: BIG INTEREST
Next best: Early Doors
5.35 “Doc’s Bumper” INH Flat Race 2m 2f
Point-to-point winner Ksar Fatal looks the horse to beat on his rules debut. The form of that debut win has worked out nicely, with the runner-up easily landing his maiden hurdle recently.
Willie Mullins, who has a strong team of horses to choose from in this division, often introduces a nicer type at his local track. Chasing Blues is an interesting runner with Derek O’Connor in the saddle.
A well-bred individual, the five-year-old is related to two blacktype horses. Any market support should be noted on this racecourse debut.
SELECTION: KSAR FATAL
Next best: Chasing Blues
