Halsafari has been found a good opportunity to add to his tally. After winning a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse in January he returned to that track last month to finish a good 8l second to Eight And Bob in a useful 2m 4f handicap hurdle.
A repeat of that effort should be sufficient and he is preferred to Lady Writer. The latter has won her last two outings over 3m but she has form at shorter distances and she will enjoy the ground. Furthermore she looks quite a progressive type.
SELECTION: HALSAFARI

2.35 KERRY GROUP IRISH EBF SHANNON SPRAY MARES NOVICE HURDLE (GRADE 3) 2M 6F
The 127-rated Moskovite appeals. She is a useful mare and she followed up a maiden hurdle success at Navan with a handicap hurdle victory over 2m on soft ground at this track in December. Last time out she showed up well to take third in a 3m Grade 3 at Clonmel won by Allaho and she may not need to improve all that much on that showing to carry the day.
Western Victory looks a solid contender and her 6l second to Honeysuckle in a decent mares’ novice hurdle at Fairyhouse last time reads well in light of Tintangle, who was third that day, showing up so well at Cheltenham on Thursday. This longer trip will be fine for her.

Carefully Selected has been off the track for almost a year but such an absence is of no concern for a representative from the Willie Mullins yard. Last season this horse was one of the best bumper horses around as he showed when enduring a last gasp defeat at Cheltenham before going on to reach the frame at Grade 1 level at Punchestown.
He should make up into a quality staying novice and he looks too strong for the promising Glamorgan Duke who showed lots of promise on his racecourse debut to finish a good third to Dream Conti in a 2m 3f maiden hurdle at Naas in January.

A hopeful vote goes to Epsilon Indi. He was last in action when reaching the frame over fences at Cork in early January but a stronger piece of form was his good run over 2m3f here at Christmas when beaten just a neck by Criq Sun. He won’t have to improve all that much on that effort and he can see off in the in form Father Jed. That one has won two of his last three outings and a 6lb rise for scoring over 2m4f at Gowran last weekend shouldn’t prevent him from making his presence felt.

4.15 CHARLEVILLE CHEESE IRISH EBF MARES’ NOVICE CHASE (GRADE 2) 2M 6F 120yds
Redhotfillypeppers could be the one to side with. She made a bright start over fences when winning over an extended 2m at this track in December. On that occasion she jumped well en route to a clear-cut success over R’evelyn Pleasure and Reach Up and that pair have since franked the form with subsequent wins. As a hurdler she had winning form at this trip so the step up in distance should suit her well.
She can see off Missy Tata who made a bright return from well over two years off when winning a Fairyhouse beginners’ chase where the second last fence fall of Moyhenna left her to come home alone. The switch to testing ground should suit Missy Tata.

The trip is shorter than ideal for the former Pertemps Final winner Mall Dini but he could still succeed. A runner-up in last season’s Kim Muir at Cheltenham, he is a very experienced sort over fences and he has competed at a much higher level than these.
He is dropping sharply in trip but it is worth recalling that he has useful form at 2m4f and he get to within 7½l of Great Field in a 2m beginners’ chase a couple of seasons ago. He is likely to be given most to do by Dakota Moirette who just didn’t seem to get home after threatening to show up well in a 2m5f handicap chase at Leopardstown a couple of weeks ago.

Rocky’s Silver is chosen in the hope that he will return to the form of his penultimate outing which saw him win a 2m5f Tramore handicap chase in good style. He is 18lbs higher in the weights than he was when scoring at Tramore and that is a concern but the form of that race looks good with both the second and the third having won several times since then.
Nine-time winner Capture The Drama is dropping in grade after contesting a useful Leopardstown handicap chase last time. His recent form includes placed runs in handicap chases at Clonmel and Cork and he shouldn’t be far away.
