1.28 Dubawi Legend At Compas Stallions Handicap 5f 205yd

You could make a case for a number of these, including Catherine Chroi and Loingseoir who ran well last weekend.

Senado Square comes here fit and in relatively good form. His sole turf win came here, off a higher mark, under today’s pilot. The first-time tongue strap could bring further improvement. Times In Oz could be well-treated considering her Tipperary third, with the winner now rated 83 – as the second was at the time.

White Clover was a bit disappointing last year, but it’s possible she could improve as a four-year-old. Sakakawea could also progress, despite the form of her maiden win not working out well.

Gazelle d’Or looks capable of defying top-weight in an uninspiring field. A rating of 75 doesn’t look too harsh after a busy juvenile campaign that yielded two wins and finishing second to a horse now rated 73.

Island Girl has twice run well over course and distance, giving her a good chance on her seasonal return, aided by her rider’s 7lb claim.

Unique Journey got within half a length of Gazelle d’Or last season, and his 10lb claimer today could help bridge that gap. Sarahmae is also of note on handicap debut, having run better than the margin suggested on her penultimate start.

SELECTION: GAZELLE D’OR

Guineas entry Mississippi River is arguably better than his rating of 85 would suggest, considering the calibre of horses he placed behind on his first two starts, before failing to justify favouritism on heavy ground.

That puts him marginally ahead of Storm Piece, as the form of his two first efforts has not fared quite as well.

Iron Fist looks to be Jessica Harrington’s leading hope on jockey bookings and should be up to winning a maiden off the back of his Curragh second last season.

Rowdy Yeats’ ability to handle heavy ground may have flattered him on debut, given that he failed to go one better against easier opposition next time.

3.13 DAR Golf Handicap 7f

Love Billy Boy was unlucky when narrowly denied at the Curragh last weekend. He won a nice pot at Chester over a similar trip to today’s.

Though lightly-raced last season, Fast Tara showed some good form. She runs well fresh and has dropped a bit in the weights. Money Dancer may also be on a workable mark, considering the form of her debut win, despite her not being up to stakes level subsequently.

Chicago Fireball and Hurricane Ivor are both classy individuals, with the former more likely to continue his progression at his age.

3.48 Irish Racing Writers Association Ron McKnight Memorial Madrid Handicap 7f

Serengeti tops the shortlist for his promising performances behind Group 1 horses on his first two starts. While he’s unlikely to be of the same calibre as connections’ 2023 winner Paddington, he remains an exciting prospect this season.

Tangapour was another promising juvenile, earning an entry in the National Stakes, and though he didn’t live up to that expectation, Aga Khan-bred horses generally improve with age.

Bottom weight Temperance is an interesting contender. She chased home a subsequent listed winner on her second start, and later got no luck in the Birdcatcher. She should sharpen up from her second onreturn last month.

Keithen Kennedy’s claim may give Gloriously Glam a chance off her mark, which already looked justified by her run in the valuable sales race at the Irish Champions Festival.

It could be argued that his Trustyourinstinct’s best performance came in defeat, when finishing a close second to subsequent Group 1 winner Jan Brueghel, on ground similar to today’s.

The ground should also play to the strengths of Dallas Star, who comes here fit from a win on the all-weather. Bravais is an intriguing transfer from France. Now gelded, he was last seen chasing home two Group 1 winners in the Prix Niel. Sunchart was impressive winning this last year, but faces stiffer competition this time.

Despite an unremarkable debut, pricey purchase Bay Colony wasn’t disgraced in her next two starts in stakes races and should make a better three-year-old. Wannabe Royal has also shown promise, including against a filly lining up in today’s classy finale.

The market will be informative regarding newcomers, including Frankel filly Faiyum, whose yard won this last year. Sharayka ticks the boxes of pedigree and stable form, while Torcalot and Sharpen are notable for their sales prices.

Acapulco Bay caught the eye on debut behind Delacroix, who later won a Group 3 and was beaten a nose in the Futurity Trophy.

The Dubawi blueblood went on to win his own Curragh maiden in good style, and though Wayne Lordan sides with Trinity College, I prefer the form of Acapulco Bay.

Trinity College is a close second choice for me, though, having finished a fine fourth to Hotazhell in the Beresford.

The two fillies are interesting - Spicy Margarita beat a Group 1 runner-up in the Patton Race, while Diamond Exchange made a promising debut in the Goffs Million.
