Fad Eadrainn made a promising return last month, when heading Withabitofluk for fourth at Naas.
It looked a stronger contest than the Ayr maiden hurdle Jony R finished third in, though he should improve from what was his first run of the season.
The strongest form, though, comes from Eastern Legend. Twice placed in maiden hurdles and once in a Grade 1, he should be more than capable of taking this for his predominantly flat yard, who had a winner on Sunday.
SELECTION: EASTERN LEGEND

Grey Pharoh was well-backed on hurdle debut last month, when a better jump at the last might have helped him rein in the front-running winner. The wide margin back to the third makes him a leading contender today.
Krak has shown promise behind smart types on both his previous starts. The drop down in trip may bring the necessary improvement, but he’ll need to learn to settle better. His stablemate God Help Me was disappointing on rules debut, but should strip fitter today.
Brave Brigadier, Jukebox Johnny and highly-rated flat horse Zoffman are also on the shortlist
SELECTION: GREY PHAROH

Qualamita has been expensive to follow, so preference is for Kimy, who finished one place better than her at the Dublin Racing Festival. The heavy ground presumably went against her the last day, but today’s ground and trip should bring out the best in her.
Fratas appears to be well-treated, considering she beat two subsequent blacktype performers when winning her hurdle debut. Lightly-raced since, she should improve from last week’s return to action, but there’s a concern this might come too soon.
SELECTION: KIMY

Ol Man Dingle just failed to complete a four-timer last time, when fading late-on behind the progressive McLaurey and returning Grade 1 horse Storm Heart. It was a creditable run on his first run in blacktype company, but he may be vulnerable to the less experienced Butch Cassidy.
Henry de Bromhead’s charge shaped like an exciting prospect when winning his hurdle debut at Punchestown, and although he disappointed next time in a Grade 1, his stable are now in better form.
C’Est Ta Chance is another smart type and his second over two miles here in January reads well, with the third having finished fourth in the Martin Pipe, while the fourth went close in a Grade 3. This step up in trip is an unknown, however.
SELECTION: BUTCH CASSIDY

This looks an ideal opportunity for Autoportrait to get off the mark, following five placings against useful rivals.
Harbour Highway’s strong finish last time, when he was well-backed, suggests today’s trip will suit. Smooth Scotch also appeals off the back of his last run, with the winner following up in a Grade 3 and the second outrunning his odds at Cheltenham.
Butcher Hollow has yet to justify his £200,000 price tag, but today’s drier ground may help his chances, given that his impressive point win came on yielding.

Mousey Brown went up significantly in the weights after easy back-to-back wins, and her subsequent disappointment in the Midlands National may have been because of a long season rather than her new rating. She ran well in a Grade 3 hurdle on her seasonal return, so should be race-fit today.
Big Stage placed behind some smart types on his early runs over fences and had excuses when a well-beaten joint-favourite over a similar trip at Christmas. Canal End should appreciate this step up in trip, with his best runs over hurdles having come in stamina tests.
Verdant Place and Prince Palace’s recent course wins came on much softer ground, which is a concern, while Hillsdale’s most recent hike may put a stop to his progression.
SELECTION: MOUSEY BROWN

A Wave Of The Sea has tumbled down the ratings and a return to this trip, over which he won two valuable chases, could see him gain his first win since February 2022. Course-and-distance winner Hardwired is also back at an easier mark, but it’s difficult to rely on this tricky individual, once described by his trainer as “a bit of a toe-rag.”
Mount Frisco’s rating looks workable and he’s run well fresh in the past, but it’s a worry that his best runs have come on heavy ground.

Burrows Drive has bumped into some smart individuals on his previous two starts and would be unlucky to do so again today. In contrast, the form of Ma Jacks Hill’s two bumper runs hasn’t fared so well.
As always, market support will be very informative regarding the newcomers, but on paper, Willie Mullins’ €85,000 buy Bon Viveur, by top sire Flemensfirth, is of obvious appeal. Six-figure purchase Chasing Blues is a Walk In The Park half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Galop Marin, and while his stablemate Bokamsin is well-related, his siblings fared best over fences.
SELECTION: BURROWS DRIVE
