Having attracted some nice entries, this race has been reduced to a fairly ordinary maiden with only a handful entering into calculations. Bilko has just one previous appearance, which was on the flat in France. The booking of David Mullins could be significant and he should be involved at the finish. Belclare Boy has some good placed efforts to his name recently but all have come on good ground. Robin Des Mana was a very tidy winner of a Down Royal bumper under Nina Carberry and warrants consideration. However, Stretchingthetruth gets the vote after a Dromahane point victory last year which was followed by a romping success at the festival here.

Definitely the better of the two maiden hurdles. Ballyegan Hero won a Tramore bumper on his latest run and was running consistently well last spring. Blue Owen has recorded two good placed runs recently, following a year-long absence, and is capable of another good run. Court Martialed must show improvement upon his bumper runs in order to compete for prize money, while Kagney, who got on the scoresheet at Downpatrick latest following some decent placed appearances, could also be placed.
Polymath, The Canny Man and Stand Up And Fight are others to consider but Loughaderra Prince easily accounted for subsequent hat-trick scorer Blood Crazed Tiger when they clashed in a Naas bumper nearly a year ago and he sets the standard.
Selection: LOUGHADERRA PRINCE
Next Best: Blue Owen

William Du Berlais landed a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in August and took a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago. He’s only been given 5lb for that victory. Allowing for normal progression, he should be thereabouts at the finish. Space Ship has come back to a competitive mark and has conditions in his favour. Hurry Kitty wasn’t raised too much for winning at Tramore and should be considered. Others to factor in are First To Boogie, recent C&D scorer Rolling Revenge, Definite Income, Jack Slade, Tikkanen Express, Kennedys Mor and Moonlone Lane.

All eyes will be on high-class hurdler Identity Thief’s debut over fences. His victories included the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth at Newcastle before finishing as runner-up to Nichols Canyon and Vroum Vroum Mag. There is no doubt he’ll be well-schooled and should be able to account for his rivals here. Attribution will come on from his pleasing first chase at Fairyhouse earlier this month. Fencing debutant Damut progressed well over hurdles, winning four handicaps in-a-row last year, but may need this outing.

Disko was runner-up to Bellshill in the Punchestown Festival bumper in 2015. He’s had one run since landing a Naas maiden hurdle last November, when down the field in the Champion Novice Hurdle here. He has the ability to land this prize if taking to fences. Gigginstown’s other runner, Crest, was efficient in taking a Navan bumper but disappointed in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Fairyhouse soon after.
Last Goodbye flopped in a handicap hurdle at the Punchestown Festival on his latest run, but notched up series of four wins before that in a bumper and over hurdles. Catalaunian Fields makes his debut over fences after landing a maiden hurdle at Bellewstown during the summer. Three Wise Men was a talented hurdler who will be well-prepped for his chase debut.
Selection: DISKO

This could be a decent opportunity for Moss Grove to get back to winning ways off a light weight. He’s been on a great run of form winning at Ballinrobe before finishing second here last week. Stonehall Jack is another running well lately but is probably within the grasp of the handicapper. Katie Do pulled-up at Gowran three weeks ago and may find top-weight too much to shoulder.
Flynsini is probably rated a couple of pounds too high to get seriously involved. The same could be said for Final Gift. Misdflight was running a good race on his handicap chase debut when carried out at Killarney in August and has a decent shout today.
Selection: MOSS GROVE

Agent Boru was second to The Rory Story last month at Navan and won his point at Taylorstown last April. He’s a serious player here and should take all the beating. Bel Ami De Sivola will give the selection most to do. His previous two runs were over hurdles, but lack of an outing since last December could find him wanting for fitness.
Eagle Ridge was fifth behind The Rory Story and Agent Boru last month and has some ground to make up, while Washington Lady was an eye-catching winner at Taylorstown in 2014 but will benefit from this run.
Selection: AGENT BORU
