REST OF THE CARD

2.35 DOOLEY INSURANCE GROUP CROSS COUNTRY CHASE 3M 1F

A chance is taken on Josies Orders to bounce back from his defeat in the La Touche here on Thursday when he was beaten just under 30l into third by Ballyboker Bridge. Only for a mistake at the sixth last he would have been closer and he is also better than he showed there. He has won this race in 2015 and 2018, and his second to Tiger Roll at Cheltenham a couple of months ago is another good effort.

He is preferred to stablemate Blue Templar who has plenty of experience over this course and distance and registered the first success of his career when he won the Ladies Cup on Tuesday.

Hurricane Darwin was beaten 8½l by Josies Orders 12 months ago and also chased him home over this course and distance in February. He should run well.

SELECTION: JOSIES ORDERS

Next best: Blue Templar

3.10 BOYLESPORTS HANDICAP CHASE (0-145) 3M 7F

Minella Awards is a former course winner and this lightly raced eight-year-old is open to further progress as a chaser. He is a strong stayer so should enjoy stepping up to this trip, and he has only had three runs as a chaser. On his last start over fences he wasn’t disgraced in a decent novice event at Cheltenham in November and an excellent second in a quality 2m 7f handicap hurdle at Galway last summer would indicate that he retains all his old ability.

He is preferred to the similarly unexposed C’Est Jersey who has good placed form behind the likes of Duc Des Genievres and Shady Operator and chased home Kemboy in a beginners’ chase last season. He has also run a number of his best races at this track.

SELECTION: MINELLA AWARDS

Next best: C’Est Jersey

5.00 PALMERSTOWN HOUSE PAT TAAFFE HANDICAP CHASE (GRADE B) (0-150) 3M

On his last two runs Bellow Mome has shown enough to indicate that a good handicap chase lies within his reach. This lightly raced eight-year-old ran a good third in the Leinster National on his second run back from an absence of two years, and he also posted a cracking effort in the Irish National last week where he raced up with the pace from early on before eventually finishing fifth behind Burrows Saint. The drop back in distance for this race should suit him.

He can see off Young Paddymc who comes here off a career-best effort at Navan where he chased home Scoir Mear in a valuable 3m novice handicap chase. Last year’s winner Heron Heights could be interesting on his return from a near year long break.

SELECTION: BELLOW MOME

Next best: Young Paddymc

5.35 BALLYMORE HANDICAP HURDLE (GRADE B) 2M 4F

Canardier deserves to win a good prize over hurdles and he is put forward to prevail.

A smart novice hurdler, he ran an excellent fifth in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham and he followed that with a fine third to Three Musketeers at Aintree when the ground was probably slower than ideal for him. Those displays in high-class handicaps would suggest that he is more than capable of holding his own here.

Willie Mullins fields nine runners and the pick of his team could be Cut The Mustard.

She has run well in a number of decent handicaps this season and performed to a solid standard at Fairyhouse last week when she was fourth to a back-to-form Ivanovich Gorbatov. She is a former course-and-distance winner so the return to this trip should suit.

The relatively unexposed duo of Take Revenge and Milan Native appeal as being able to make their presence felt provided they can overcome their relative lack of experience.

SELECTION: CANARDIER

Next best: Cut The Mustard

18:10 K CLUB & RESORT (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M

This race produced City Island and Minella Indo 12 months ago. In a field of newcomers Tactical Move is a hopeful choice to bring the curtain down on another memorable meeting for Willie Mullins.

This gelding chased home Eden Du Houx in a point-to-point just over a year ago and the winner of that race has since won both his starts on the track which is encouraging.

Ard Abhainn is a daughter of Jeremy who has joined Gordon Elliott since making a winning debut in a Lingstown point-to-point two months ago. She appeals as another possible contender.

Extreme Cacao has the assistance of Derek O’Connor and is notable as his yard’s bumper runners at this meeting are always worth a second glance.

SELECTION: TACTICAL MOVE

Next best: Ard Abhainn
