LIAM Burke, the 66-year-old trainer and amateur rider from near Mallow in Co Cork, will feature on Nationwide next Monday on RTÉ One at 7pm.

Mary Fanning travelled to Liam’s Winacre Stables on the Waterford-Cork border to hear about Liam’s recent return to the saddle which led to him making headlnes when he rode Teuchters Glory to win at Limerick in March.

Liam, who is father to professional jockey Johnny Burke, has had knee replacements and is a great advertisement for the procedure. Mary reported: “Liam is a great inspiration to people who have knee replacements and think they will never be the same!”
