TICKETS are selling fast for the Galway Races Summer Festival Ball 2024, which is a fundraiser for local jockey Graham Lee.
Graham won the Grand National and Ascot Gold Cup during his career which was cut short by a fall during a race last November which left him paralysed.
The team at Galway Racecourse stepped up to organise this fundraiser for Graham and his family, and it promises to be a great night
It takes place in the Galmont Hotel (formerly the Rad Blu) on the Lough Atalia Road, just a few hundred metres from Eyre Square, on Saturday, August 3rd, just before the final day of the Summer Festival at Ballybrit.
Tickets are €200 each and a limited number of tables of 10 are available.
Gráinne Seoige and Brian Gleeson will co-host this black-tie event, alongside A.P. McCoy and Ruby Walsh, president and chairman respectively of the Injured Jockeys Fund and Irish Injured Jockeys.
If you can’t make it on the night you can still show your support for Graham by having your racing colours or business logo displayed on the night and in the Saturday racecard and on digital screens and digital media.
Sinead Cassidy of Galway Races told us: “Graham’s family are from Ballybrit so it seems the right reason to bring back the Ball. Already 70% of the tickets are gone. This is going to be an inspiring event, where we celebrate all of Graham’s achievements. We’ll have the Galway Tenors, Cairde, a band, an electric sax player, it will be one massive celebration. We will also have a charity auction on the night, conducted by Colm O’Donnellan.”
