“I think a stiff five furlongs with cut in the ground is probably perfect for him, so we’ll aim for the King Charles III Stakes on Tuesday. His runs at Naas, and in last year’s Flying Five at the Curragh, would point to that as being ideal. This race wasn’t majorly on our radar previously, because you would typically expect fast ground at Royal Ascot, but there looks to be a chance of rain that could help ease conditions for him. We know he’s a smart sprinter when he gets his ground. He’s won over six furlongs before and travelled well over that trip last time at the Curragh [when seventh in the Greenlands Stakes], but he probably didn’t let himself down at the business end, when the ground was a bit too tight. It was lovely ground for the right horse, but a little fast for him. He minded himself, thankfully, and has come out of it very well.”
Mighty Eriu
“We had a couple in contention for the Queen Mary Stakes on Wednesday, but I’m only going to send Mighty Eriu. She’s a nice filly, a good type, and she’s going to run for Qatar Racing, who have bought her. She’s still with us and this will be our first runner for the owners. We’re looking forward to it.”
My Mate Mozzie
“Hopefully he gets in to the Copper Horse Handicap on Tuesday, though we always kind of knew we’d be on the border. Maybe the rain might help to cut it up a small bit. I’m happy with him. This has been the plan for a while. I know he’s off a career-high mark on the flat, but he’d be at the bottom of the weights if getting in. He’s in good form.”
Bergamasco
“He’s very consistent and I give him a good chance in the Britannia Handicap [on Thursday]. He’s entered in the Goffs London Sale at the start of the week too. It looks like the mile is his best trip and a strongly-run race suits him best. Hopefully the British style of racing should play to his strengths; they probably just didn’t go as hard as I’d hoped for him last time at Chelmsford. He’s a big horse, who has filled out well.”
Scorchio
“I’m really looking forward to running this filly in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes [on Friday]. She’s pleasing me and it was lovely to see the form of her win at Cork get a boost when the runner-up, Kendall Roy, won on his next start at the Curragh. I feel this filly has improved since Cork and she’s well related. I think she could still have a few pounds in hand and has a big chance.”
Take Me To Church
“He’s also entered in the Goffs London Sale and the plan is the Jersey Stakes [on Saturday]. He represented us very well when fifth in the Irish 2000 Guineas and proved that he’s a very high-class horse. Dropping back to seven furlongs, I give him a big chance in the Jersey. He has actually come out of the Guineas in better shape than he went into it, which I didn’t think could even be possible.”
Make Haste
“We’re looking forward to next week and the filly heads there in top form. We’ve always liked her at home and Gavin [Ryan] rode her in her work at Dundalk before her debut and felt she would be a nice filly going forward. We think she is special and we like her a lot. I think she will get further than five furlongs in time, but we will look forward to the Queen Mary Stakes [on Wednesday] over five furlongs first.”
Ndaawi
“I’m glad that he gets into the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday. He worked well during the week and, if he gets in, this will be his first start on the flat since coming to us.”
Party Central
“It would be nice if she got into the Copper Horse Handicap on Tuesday over a mile and six furlongs. She ran well at Down Royal last time and I think this trip would really suit her. As long as the ground doesn’t turn too soft, she won’t mind.”
Pied Piper
“He’s only run in two handicaps on the flat for me; he was just touched off in second in last year’s Cesarewitch and ran well when not beaten far in the Ascot Stakes a year before that. He might not be badly handicapped off his mark [of 98]. The plan is to go back for the Ascot Stakes. Depending on how the week shapes up, he could run again in the Queen Alexandra Stakes on the Saturday, but we’ll see.”
Zaynab
“She goes for the Sandringham Stakes on Friday and is going the right way. She worked very well during the week and we’re very happy with her. I think she’s improving the whole time.”
Boher Road
“It’s all systems go with him [for the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday]. He worked on Wednesday morning and that went well. The bit of rain in the forecast won’t be any harm to him. These staying handicaps on the flat seem to suit him, especially when he’s able to do his own thing in front. There seems to be plenty of stamina in there, but he’s not a slow horse either. Sometimes he can have an off-day and throw in a quieter run, but hopefully that won’t happen next week. He’s a homebred of Pat McCarthy’s and we’re all heading over, so it’s great to have him to look forward to. I hope he’ll run a big race.”
Enjoy The Dream
“We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather for her. At first it looked as though the rain might come around Monday, which would have been a plus for the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday, but that could be arriving a little later now. We’ll see how it unfolds, but the Queen Alexandra Stakes is also an option for her on Saturday. She’s been listed-placed over two and a half miles on soft ground in Germany, and over seven furlongs on good ground, so there aren’t too many mares with form over that type of variation in trip. I thought it was a lovely run for her first start back at Killarney last time [when second to Uxmal]. On that evidence, it looked like a mile and six furlongs would be as short as she wants, so hopefully we’ll be able to see how she gets on over further next week.”
Caught U Looking
“She ran well [when fifth] in the Oaks even though I was slightly disappointed. She’s come home from Epsom absolutely bouncing. I struggled with her all spring and couldn’t get her to thrive or keep weight on her, but she’s after turning a corner in the last three weeks. About 10 or 12 days before the Oaks she started to come right. She lost about 10kg with the trip to Epsom. Not alone did she put that back on in the week that followed, but she put on 5kg more with it. That’s incredible to come back so quickly and she’s bouncing. Neil Ryan, who rides her every day, says she’s a totally different filly. She’s in the Ribblesdale Stakes. It’s probably a short call to go there that quick but you wouldn’t know, maybe. We’ll see how we are - we still think we have something.”
Almuhit
“It’s probably touch and go as to whether he’ll get into the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday off his rating, but we’ll see how it shapes up for him on Sunday morning come declarations.”
Postileo
“We’re thinking about the Queen Alexandra Stakes on Saturday for him. It was a solid enough run last time at Navan in the Vintage Crop Stakes [when fourth behind Kyprios] and the extra distance might play to his strengths.”
The Shunter
“Fingers crossed we might get to run him in the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday, but it will be ground dependent. Rain in the forecast would be in his favour, so we’ll take a look at the ground situation come declaration time.”
Arizona Blaze
Stable representative Robson Aguiar said: “He goes for the Norfolk Stakes [on Thursday]. I think he’s a very nice horse, very fast. Last time at the Curragh, he won over six furlongs [in the Marble Hill] but we had to break his stride at that trip. At Ascot, I think coming back to five furlongs should suit.”
Bucanero Fuerte
“He’s going well at the moment and we’re heading for the Commonwealth Cup [on Friday]. I’m delighted with the way he’s come back as a three-year-old and he won at Naas on his first run of the season without having had too much work beforehand. I think he’ll improve from that. I think he’s a big player in the Commonwealth Cup. Any race at Royal Ascot isn’t easy, and Group 1s there definitely aren’t easy, but he’s in there and hopefully it works out for us.”
Crypto Force
“We’re looking at the Wolferton Stakes with him [on Tuesday]. He was third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup last time and seems to be coming back.”
Elegant Man
“The plan is for him to run in the Hardwicke Stakes [on Saturday]. Hopefully the rain stays away for him because fast ground is what he likes – he’s been working very well on faster ground.”
Magical Sunset
“She’s been running in Group races at the Curragh in her first three runs of the season. Her target is the seven-furlong handicap [the Buckingham Palace Stakes on Thursday].”
Majestic Beauty
“She goes for the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes [on Friday]. She had a good run when second at the Curragh the other day, and that would have helped her prepare for this. I think she’s going to be competitive in this race.”
Mammas Girl
“We’re looking at running her in the fillies’ handicap over a mile [the Kensington Palace Stakes on Wednesday]. She’s been running in group races, so we’ll see how she gets on.”
Valiant Force
“He won the Norfolk Stakes there last year and goes back for the King Charles III Stakes [formerly the King’s Stand, on Tuesday]. We haven’t had that much time with him after he came back from America. We couldn’t get a run into him before Ascot, but we’ll do the maximum we can to get him there and see how he’ll go. His run at the Breeders’ Cup last year [when runner-up to Big Evs] was very good and if he’s in the same form, hopefully he’ll run well again. I would have liked to get a run into him before this, but it just came too soon.”
Native Force
“He’s in the three-year-old handicap, the King George V Stakes [on Thursday]. He won well at Roscommon first time out this year and I think he will have a little squeak in that handicap.”
Porta Fortuna
“She will be our main hope for Ascot and we’re still undecided on Coronation Stakes or Commonwealth Cup [on Friday]. The ground will play a factor and there is some rain forecast. If they got some rain, then we would be more likely to go Commonwealth, but if it is good ground, then the Coronation would probably be more likely. She’s very straightforward and an easy filly to train, so it makes things a lot easier. I keep swapping and changing in my head what the best place is to go with her. I would be leaning towards the Coronation, but if the ground came up soft, then we will obviously think about dropping back in trip instead.”
Evening Saigon
“He’s entered in the Goffs London Sale but regardless of whether he’s sold or not, he’ll run in the Norfolk Stakes [on Thursday]. He worked on Wednesday morning and I was happy with what he did. I think this is a good horse. He won at Tipperary on his first start for us and beat a couple of subsequent winners. I think he’s improved again since. Going to Tipperary, we were a little worried about soft ground down there as he’s such a good mover, but Colin [Keane] said he handled it and is just an uncomplicated horse. I think he’s going to run a big race in the Norfolk.”
Follow Me
“He’ll be entered for the Jersey Stakes [on Saturday] but will more than likely go for the Britannia [on Thursday]. He did a bit of work the other day and Shane Foley was very happy with him. He handled good ground well at the Curragh the last day.”
Coeur d’Or
“He runs in the Royal Hunt Cup on Wednesday. He was a brilliantly consistent horse for us last year, winning the Colm Quinn BMW Mile at Galway and Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh. I appreciate he’s gone up in the handicap, but he’s in great form. A lot in the Hunt Cup depends on the draw. Provided he gets a favourable draw, I think he can run a very good race.”
Taraj
“He will run in the Hampton Court Stakes on Thursday. He’s in great order and loves firm ground, so hopefully there won’t be too much rain. It was an excellent run last time behind Los Angeles at Leopardstown and I think he’s improved from that. I’m delighted with him and if there isn’t too much rain, I’d expect him to run a very good race.”
