Ted Walsh & Robert Hall raised and informed generations of racing fans. They literally were RTÉ Racing for 30 years.
Today marks the end of an iconic broadcasting career. For many, the end of all we’ve ever known. It has been our privilege. Thank you

I was lucky enough to meet Ted Walsh when I was about 12 years old with the late Billy Rock, I looked up to him from that day on, a legend of a man.

It was an honour to be working for @RTEracing@punchestownrace today with @jane_mangan & Lisa O’Neill alongside the great Ted Walsh as he announces his retirement from broadcasting. A man we all learned so much from including the viewers at home.
John Dermody@jackcarty82
An awful lot of people fell in love with racing watching Ted Walsh. Never afraid to call it as he saw it, even if it landed him in hot water. Always with sensible, thought out and workable ideas. “If you don’t like racing go and watch Peppa Pig” a highlight. Happy retirement Ted

A pleasure to cover @RTEracing for so many years with Ted Walsh. Has been a voice for the industry for many years and drew so many to our sport with his honesty and humour. He will be missed and we wish him well and hope we can carry the flame with the current team.

Real end of an era as Ted Walsh lays down his microphone. Wonderful man. Great analyst and great listen. Never forget the emoji and the Kardashian.
Seamus Murphy@MurphysMaths
Called it straight and honestly. Never spoke to make headlines or grab attention. Sports commentary and analysis the way it should be.
And gave us one of the best TV quotes of all - “I rode her mother”.

A plea to @RTEracing for a Ted Walsh best bits compilation! He was, & always will be, a masterclass in telling it as it is. We are worse off without Ted Walsh on our screens flying the flag so passionately for racing. An end of an era to see him bow out!
