Retraining of Racehorses

Many familiar Irish names will be part of the Retraining of Racehorses (ROR) annual parade before racing in the paddock at Cheltenham at 12.30pm on the Tuesday. A list of horses taking part in the parade include:

  • Jack The Giant - Showing (Allister Hood)
  • Mikael D’Haugenet - Dressage (Lesley Sutton)
  • Punjabi - Dressage (Rachael Kempster)
  • Sizing Europe - Rosemary Connors (Showing)
  • Tranquil Sea - Showjumping/Dressage (Clemmie Shipp)
  • Oh Crick - Eventing (Holly Nicholson)
  • Forpadydeplasterer - (Joanne Quirke)
  • Handicap weights

    The weights for the Cheltenham handicaps were revealed this week and the Ultima Handicap Chase on the Tuesday has Sausalito Sunrise as top-weight on 11st 12lb with Henry de Bromhead’s Shanahan’s Turn (11st 2lb) the top-weighted Irish-trained runner along Blood Cotil and Mala Beach. Pat Fahy’s Morning Assembly is on a decent mark with 10st 13lb.

    Joint top-rated in the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase on Tuesday is the Alan Fleming-trained Bridgets Pet on 11st 10lb.

    Recent impressive winner Different Gravey (11st 12lb) tops the Coral Cup weights for Nicky Henderson ahead of top Irish rated Taglietelle (11st 6lb) and the Willie Mullins/Rich Ricci pair Dicosimo and Arbre De Vie on 11st 2lb. Gordon Elliot’s Diamond King is next on 11st 1lb with last week’s winner Great Field on 10st 13lb.

    The Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle has the Alan King-trained Gibralfaro as top-weight at 11st 10lb with one of the favourites Campeador trained by Gordon Elliott on 11st 5lb ahead of Jer’s Girl on 11st 1lb.

    Pertemps Handicap Hurdle top weight is the Gordon Elliott-trained Taglietelle on 11st 12lb with Mall Dini next on 10st 11lb. Oscar Sam (10st 10lb) and Leave At Dawn are next on 10st 09lb.
