TWO more Irish stud farms owned by the late Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum have been placed on the market.
Last month The Irish Field broke the news of the upcoming sale of Lumville Farm, a state-of-the-art property and part of the Derrinstown Stud group of 10 stud farms located in Ireland.
That farm is being offered for sale in two lots, with the overall property guiding at €4.5 million. The 218-acre stud will be sold at public auction in The K Club on Wednesday, October 26th.
At the time of the original announcement, Stephen Collins, general manager of Derrinstown Stud and its associated farms, said: “This is part of a consolidation of the business, both here and abroad, that is taking place since the passing of Sheikh Hamdan last year.”
Now comes news of the sale of two smaller, though still sizeable, properties in the stud’s portfolio. Both farms are located within a five-minute drive of Derrinstown, and each offers purchasers a wide variety of possible uses.
Many in the business will be familiar with Windgates Stud as it is located on the main road from Barberstown Castle to Maynooth, and this farm has terrific road frontage. The farm is ready to go, apart from some modernisation required on the distinctive residence.
The other farm, Pickering Stud, is a turn-key project, and will likely attract great interest from local farmers, as well as Irish and international purchasers seeking a stud farm in an ideal location. It is in a tranquil setting, the main entrance across the road from a prestige stud farm, and all of the land is set out in well-sheltered, stud-railed paddocks of great size.
Stephen Collins told The Irish Field: “We have already seen great interest shown in Lumville Farm, and have decided to bring two smaller properties to market this year. Both Pickering Stud and Windgates Stud will be sold on the same day, Thursday November 3rd, at The K Club. Each farm has its own distinctive features, and I am sure that each will appeal to a variety of potential purchasers.”
