KILLARNEY Racecourse has paid tribute to Dermot Ivo O’Sullivan, a former chairman of the track and former National Hunt Senior Steward, who died peacefully at home last Sunday in Killarney, aged 89.
O’Sullivan became a member of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee in 1980 and the Turf Club in 1995. He held the position of National Hunt Senior Steward from 1997 to 1999, and gave two terms as chairman of the Licensing Committee.
He was involved in Killarney Race Company for over 50 years, both as board member and chairman, and was honoured for at the National Hunt Awards in 2007.
A statement from the track said: “Ivo was very proud of his association with Killarney Race Company and was held in the highest regard within the racing industry.”
