Jerry Russell laid to
rest on Christmas Eve
JERRY Russell, father of former champion jump jockey Davy Russell, will be laid to rest today (Christmas Eve) following his 11.30am funeral Mass in Youghal, Co Cork.
He bred and owned horses, notably Youghal By The Sea, which was ridden by Davy to win a Downpatrick maiden hurdle in 2018 for trainer Gordon Elliott. He was also a former chairman of Youghal GAA and was remembered on Sunday, when the club won its first Cork U21B county hurling final.
Predeceased by his wife Phyllis, he is survived by daughters Finnuala, Eimear and Aileen, and sons Diarmuid, Davy and Sean.
