HORSE of the Year in both Ireland and Britain last season, Minding is one of 38 entries for the Tattersalls Gold Cup which takes place at the Curragh on Sunday, May 28th.
First entries for the Group 1 contest closed this week and the race will carry record prize money of €300,000 this year.
Irish Oaks winner Seventh Heaven, Breeders’ Cup hero Highland Reel and last year’s Irish Derby runner-up Idaho are also among the strong Aidan O’Brien team for the 10-furlong race. Melbourne Cup runner-up Heartbreak City is another fascinating entry.
Multiple Group 1 winner The Grey Gatsby, who joined Dermot Weld earlier this year, is one of four entries from the Curragh-based trainer.
Dubai Sheema Classic contender Prize Money is one of 11 high-class overseas-trained entries, which include the Roger Charlton trained Decorated Knight, Red Verdon trained by Ed Dunlop, So Mi Dar trained by John Gosden and the David O’Meara-trained Mondialiste.
Last year’s Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) runner-up Zarak is the sole French-trained entry.
