New Orby Sale online game
AN online competition has been launched inviting participants to guess which yearlings will fetch the highest prices at next week’s Goffs Orby Sale. The game is a fundraiser for the Irish Injured Jockeys and has been set up by Martina Dempsey of Godolphin, who is taking part in this year’s Corinthian Challenge. For a €10 entry fee, players are invited to select five yearlings from the Orby catalogue. The yearlings’ sale prices will determine each player’s final score. The prizes are dinner for four at The Club at Goffs, a four-ball at Palmerstown Golf Club, and four tickets to the Goffs Million fixture in 2024.

Constitution Hill stays over hurdles
CONSTITUTION Hill will stay over hurdles this season and probably for the rest of his career, trainer Nicky Henderson has announced. The six-year-old is unbeaten in seven career starts to date, with six of those victories at Grade 1 level, including a nine-length triumph in last season’s Champion Hurdle.
Henderson said: “We’ll start off in the Fighting Fifth, then there’s only 20-odd days until the Christmas Hurdle. This year what is different is they have moved the International Hurdle to Trials Day at Cheltenham (January 27th) when it used to be in December. That gives us another race potentially, before Cheltenham in March. We’ll see what happens after that because then you have Aintree and Punchestown.”
BHA moves on John Dance status
THE British Horseracing Authority has ruled that racehorse owner John Dance cannot have runners pending an investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority into his wealth management business. Dance was first prevented from having runners in April but the ban was lifted in time to allow Bravemansgame, which he part-owns, run at Punchestown. On the flat his horses are trained privately by James Horton and the yard has had six winners this season. However, it is believed the BHA was prompted to take fresh action this week over the sale of Sacred Angel by the Titanium Racing Club, of which Dance is patron, to owner Nurlan Bizakov.
