Free Directory in next week’s edition

NEXT week’s edition of The Irish Field will include a free copy of the 2024 Directory. Running to a record 232 pages this year, the Directory is billed as the ultimate guide to Ireland’s equestrian industry. As well as carrying details of approximately 700 stallions, the glossy publication contains contact details for studs, trainers, jockeys, racecourses, hunts, riding centres, accredited riding coaches, professional equestrian riders, riding clubs, pony clubs, polo clubs, organisations, bloodstock agents and sales companies.

Additional copies of the Directory are priced at €20, so make sure you don’t miss your free copy next Saturday.

Sandown PTP sale cancelled

TATTERSALLS has cancelled next Saturday’s Tingle Creek Sale of point-to-pointers at Sandown. A statement from the sales company said: “It has been deemed to be in the interest of all stakeholders to not continue with this sale and offer those horses with places the opportunity to sell at the market-leading and long-established Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale.”

Extra PTP date next weekend

THE North Down point-to-point fixture at Kirkistown has been re-scheduled to next Saturday, December 9th. The autumn season will end on Sunday with Tattersalls and Boulta.

Graham Lee online auction

AN online fundraising auction in aid of Graham Lee has been set up, featuring plenty of interesting racing lots. All monies raised will be managed by the Injured Jockeys Fund but go directly to the 47-year-old rider. Bids can be placed on a number of experiences, including spending a morning on the gallops of trainers such as Paul Nicholls, Karl Burke, Harry Derham, Donald McCain and Fergal O’Brien.

Winner disqualified for whip offence

MIXEDWAVE became the first winner in Britain to be disqualified under the current whip rules this week. His rider Alex Edwards used his whip 16 times at Market Rasen last week – nine above the permitted level. In accordance with the rules, the result was not changed on the day and so betting markets were not affected.

ThoroughBid Christmas ‘gift’

THOROUGHBID is waiving its entry fee for any lots that fail to sell at its upcoming Christmas Sale on Wednesday. December 20th. The standard entry fee of £250 (plus VAT) will only be charged to lots that sell. Entries close December 8th.
