Mental fitness seminar
ITBA, in association with Equuip, hosts an online seminar on mental fitness and resilience in the thoroughbred industry next Wednesday March 1st at 7pm. The seminar is aimed at those working in the breeding and racing sector, both employees and employers. Taking part are Dr Jennifer Pugh, Senior Medical Officer IHRB, Lisa O’Neill, Welfare Coordinator with Equuip, and Dr Cíara Losty, sports psychologist with The Jockey Pathway.

OVER £370,000 was raised in aid of Giving to Ukraine and the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal through an online auction of almost 100 stallion nominations this week. The auction was organised by Oliver St Lawrence and staged on the Tattersalls Online platform.
Breeder of the Month winner
JOE Lalor has won the Connolly’s Red Mills The Irish Field Breeder of the Month competition for January. He bred Goffs Thyestes Chase winner Carefully Selected.
Death of Havana Gold
SUCCESSFUL sire Havana Gold has died at Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire. The 13-year-old suffered a pelvic injury and could not be saved. Owned by Qatar Racing and trained by Richard Hannon, the son of Teofilo won the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat in 2013 and retired to stud the following year. A leading British-based stallion, he was the sire of Havana Grey, a Group 1 winner and very successful first season stallion in 2022.
RACE offers to help jockeys
IN response to recent British whip rule changes, RACE is offering one-to-one training clinics for any riders with upcoming rides in Britain. The sessions can be delivered at RACE or through the mobile unit. The sessions will be delivered by jockey coaches Paddy Flood and Leighton Aspell. Leopardstown attractions
LEOPARDSTOWN Racecourse has boosted its upcoming two-day National Hunt finale with a Cheltenham preview and an invitation to seniors and juniors. The Sunday, March 5th card will end with a Cheltenham preview featuring Gavin Cromwell, Keith Donoghue and bookmaker Anthony Kaminskas.
A day later, [Monday, March 6th], primary school children will be in attendance before racing to learn more about the sport. The Monday card also marks Active Retirement Raceday at Leopardstown and there is a special package for seniors for €27.50 per person.
