SUTTON Place made a successful start to his career over fences in the Follow Fairyhouse On Social Media Beginners Chase.
Gordon Elliott's charge developed into a classy hurdler last season but hadn't been sighted since pulling up lame in the Champion Stayers Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.
That didn't stop punters sending him off the 4/6 favourite and he travelled in third in the early stages behind the Willie Mullins pair of Kemboy and Pylonthepressure, before heading the latter to track pacesetter Kemboy.
They approached the final obstacle locked together but Sutton Place pulled out that little bit more on the run to the line under Mark Walsh to score by three and a quarter lengths.
Elliott, who also took the opening maiden hurdle with Dortmund Park, said: "Mark said he was a little bit novicey but it was his first run over fences. He never does anything very impressive and just does what he has to do.
"They went a good, honest gallop. I'll have to talk to the lads and see where we go next. Hopefully he's OK after this and we'll see where we go then."

Martello Park showed excellent resolution to justify 13/8 favouritism in the Promote Your Business At Fairyhouse In 2018 Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Redhotfillypeppers put the pace to the race but was pressed three out by Danny Mullins on Mags Mullins' market leader.
Martello Park made a mistake at the next and Sassy Diva loomed up apparently travelling much the better, but Mullins hadn't asked for maximum effort and when he did, Martello Park responded gamely to cross the line with two and a quarter lengths in hand.
The winning trainer said: "She deserved that and came back well from a little mistake. I think she'll get three miles, and hopefully she's good enough to go for a listed race. She's real genuine and honest.
"It's great for the lads (G S Racing Club). There are about 10 of them and they are all retired."
Dortmund Park began to repay some of the €230,000 shelled out for him with a hard-fought success in the Happy New Year Maiden Hurdle.
The five-year-old joined Gordon Elliott after winning a couple of French bumpers but could only manage sixth on his jumping bow at Navan last month.
Favourite Bang Bang Rosie disputed the lead with Cote Tete but she began to back-pedal after the third-last, with plenty still in with chances at that point.
Little separated four of them over the final flight but Dortmund Park (11/4) found most for Davy Russell to see off Catwalk King by three-quarters of a length.
Elliott said: "He's a nice, big horse and a chaser in the making. He's still raw. Davy said that real heavy ground was a bit of a struggle for him there today, but he's a nice horse and a horse for the future."
