BEDTIME Story set the two-year-old season alight with a blistering performance in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot a couple of weeks ago, but we may have seen two more high class Frankel fillies make their debuts in the Kildare House Hotel Irish EBF Fillies Maiden over seven furlongs at the Curragh last Friday, writes James Fletcher.

In a race won by Ylang Ylang last year, Lake Victoria (Aidan O’Brien) and fast-closing Red Letter (Ger Lyons), sent off 5-2 joint-favourites, pulled well clear of the rest of the field and are both horses to follow moving forward. The time was good, achieving a 9.2/10 on the RaceiQ Time Index (over a point above the meeting average), and the stride data would provide encouragement for both fillies. Lake Victoria hit the highest stride length during the race, an impressive 8.34m, whilst Red Letter’s average frequency (strides/second) was markedly lower (2.24s/s) than Lake Victoria’s (2.36s/s), suggesting she will get further in time - as would her Finishing Speed Percentage, which was a race-high 107.7%.
