2.00 Mallow 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle 2m 20yds

The Gerard O’Leary-trained Action Plan can strike on his third start over hurdles. Placed on both previous outings, the son of Soldier’s Call has acquired crucial experience, which should stand to him in this company. With the form of his earlier runs appearing quite strong, he holds decent claims under Jack Kennedy.

Hurdling newcomer Mick Collins is a definite threat for the Noel Meade yard. A lightly raced maiden on the flat, he is sure to be well-schooled ahead of this introduction.

Although finding one too good on each of his last three starts, Arctic Gale can get off the mark here for Emmet Mullins. A bumper winner at Fairyhouse last year, the five-year-old can make the most of his previous hurdling experience.

Point-to-point and bumper winner Kish Bank has the potential to be quite useful. Gordon Elliott’s gelding has yet to race over flights, but if taking to these obstacles, he should be very competitive.

While softer ground would be preferable, Oscars Brother is a strong stayer who is sure to relish every yard of this trip. Local trainer Connor King has had very few runners to date, but this six-year-old should have every chance of providing him with a first career winner.

Point-to-point winner Millforce made a winning debut under rules for Gavin Cromwell at Bellewstown. While this represents a step up in class, the gelding has been a model of consistency under both codes.

Gordon Elliott’s Downpatrick winner Someone’s Wish can make it two-from-two over fences. The four-year-old reverted to the flat when running a nice race in the Student Derby on his most recent outing. Getting the age allowance here, the Buratino gelding will be hard to beat.

Sligo runner-up Noble Talent should be involved if coping with this drop back in trip. Only for a mistake at the last fence, he would have been closer to the winner last time.

Recent Listowel runner-up The Banger Doyle can go one better for trainer John Queally. Staying on strongly from the final fence, he beat a solid yardstick into third in what was a stronger contest than this. A fair handicapper on the flat, his speed could prove to be an important factor in this small field.

Dollar Value can sometimes prove difficult at the start, but if getting away on terms, Tom McCourt’s grey is a contender. In the form of his life this season, the nine-year-old should enjoy this galloping track.

Noble Birth can win for the first time over fences on his stable debut for Gavin Cromwell. Thrice a winner over hurdles for Eric McNamara, the seven-year-old looks nicely treated off a 4lb lower mark on his first venture into handicap company in this discipline.

Kilbeggan winner Hand Over Fist was still in front when falling at Downpatrick last time. Granted an error-free round, the Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding is sure to be involved.

Galway winner Meitheal can follow up in this finale. Runner-up on her previous two starts, the Imperial Monarch mare was always prominent before staying on best inside the final furlong. She can add a second career success here under John Gleeson.

Harry Kelly’s Faceman is entitled to improve from his recent Listowel third. Although well-beaten by the first two, the Bowe family-owned gelding should be sharper for that experience.
