1.45 Kara Quinn Memorial Irish EBF Maiden 1m

It was a highly encouraging first start from Acapulco Bay when runner-up to classy-looking stablemate Delacroix here three weeks ago and he ought to be hard to beat. After a slow start and showing signs of greenness on that occasion, he ended up clocking the fastest sectional times for each of the last four furlongs and was the only runner in the field to see out the final two furlongs in less than 22 seconds (21.83 seconds). The first foal out of a sister to Magic Wand, he looks promising for Aidan O’Brien.

From the same stable, Genealogy is an interesting newcomer as a 400,000gns yearling purchase by Wootton Bassett. He’s the second string on jockey bookings and can be expected to improve for the run. Emit (Joseph O’Brien) appears likely to progress from his debut fifth at Leopardstown 23 days ago.

She’s one of the least experienced runners in the line-up, but Dreamy created a favourable impression when winning a Glorious Goodwood maiden at the first time of asking and might be able to successfully make the step up to Group 3 company. The runner-up didn’t do anything to enhance the form in a Deauville Group 2 next time but perhaps shouldn’t be judged too harshly given she was turning out relatively quickly and upped in grade as a maiden. Dreamy, by American Pharoah, is a out of Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks heroine Tapestry.

Sigh No More came from the clouds to win a Galway Festival maiden against the boys before backing that up at Roscommon. Both of those wins came on heavy, so how she’ll fare with much better ground here is an unknown. Fiery Lucy ran a cracker to finish second in the valuable Irish EBF Ballyhane Stakes last time and her experience will stand to her here. Alla Stella is a respected visiting runner for Sir Mark Prescott.

2.50 Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes (Group 3) 6f

This grade of race will be more to Rudi’s Apple liking than the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes he finished fifth of five runners in three weeks ago. The form of that contest has been slightly mixed since, with the runner-up Whistlejacket winning the Group 1 Prix Morny next time out and third-placed Arizona Blaze narrowly touched off in the lucrative Harry’s Half Million By Goffs Premier Yearling Stakes by a 77-rated performer, while the fourth, Shadow Army, bombed out in the Listed Ripon Champion Two-Year-Old Trophy. The selection’s rating of 102 sets the standard here.

Recent course maiden winner Ides Of March appreciated coming back to six furlongs after looking a non-stayer two starts ago over seven furlongs. He could yet have improvement in him. Usdi Atohi is a solid enough type who should be in the shake-up again, while Morning Vietnam posted a career-best at Cork last time and is entitled to a crack at this.

3.25 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes (Group 3) 1m 1f

It probably wasn’t a red-hot Glencairn Stakes that Tarawa bolted up in two starts ago but an effort similar to that will make her a major player in this Group 3, having found Diego Velazquez too hot to handle in the Meld Stakes last time. Back against her own sex now, and operating over a trip that looks her optimum, she can be expected to deliver another bold bid.

Dropping in distance from her sixth in the Irish Oaks seems like a logical next step for the same owner’s Hanalia. She’s a relatively unexposed three-year-old who receives 7lb from Tarawa and can be in the thick of things. The form of Wingspan’s Gowran win last time received a boost when runner-up One Look struck in listed company at Killarney last week, and Uluru is a useful sort in her own right who finished second in a Deauville Group 3 just under five weeks ago.

Racing off top-weight and returning to the scene of her smart success in nursery company last time, Girl Like You is probably the obvious play here. She’s up 8lb for winning by half a length, which may seem enough of a hike on the face of it, but there was a bit of style about that victory and her debut effort here suggested she could develop into being useful enough to be compete off a mark of this.

Sugar Club disappointed at Roscommon last time but perhaps couldn’t act on the heavy ground and is worth a market check as she switches back to better conditions. Sunriseontheboyne is 5lb higher than his staying-on Killarney win and isn’t out of it either. Churchill Gale, at a big price, is likely better than she showed at Galway and could take home a cheque, though racing from 6lb out of the handicap clearly isn’t ideal.

This is a big step up from winning a fillies’ handicap off a mark of 68 at this track last time, but Vera’s Secret absolutely bolted up by six and a half lengths on that occasion and has to be considered a lively option despite the 17lb rise. Racing off 8st 8lb leaves her on an attractive weight and she’s extremely lightly raced as a five-year-old with only four runs to her name. Her lack of experience isn’t ideal but initial odds of 16/1 after declarations look very fair from an each-way perspective - especially if able to avail of enhanced place terms with some firms.

There are plenty in with chances, though - as you’d expect for any major premier handicap like this. State Actor probably wasn’t best helped by how the race unfolded here last time on Derby weekend but he still ran well to be fourth. Keane’s lowest weight in the past year is 8st 10lb, so that probably ruled him out of riding his father’s Genuine Article at 8st 8lb. Talented apprentice James Ryan takes the mount and claims a handy 3lb. It was frustrating the Galway runner-up couldn’t get by the winner, Grey Leader, last time after trading at close to 1/7 in running but cheekpieces could help now.

The Kevin Coleman-trained Devil’s Angel caught the eye at Naas in a higher grade than this last time, and that was only his second start after a long layoff and switching stables. If able to build on that, the eight-time winner in Britain - racing off 5lb lower now - looks entitled to be in the shake-up at the very least.

This is competitive, however. Secret Magican has returned to form in recent starts and is a danger for the Hassett team and Rappell has plenty going for him too. Dynamic Force, Never Cry Never, Von Krolock and Goldmoyne are others worthy of shortlist inclusion.
