3.00 Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) 7f
Bedtime Story: Sensational nine-and-a-half-length winner of the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot before less commanding wins in the Silver Flash and Debutante Stakes as 1/16 favourite (twice). This has been her target for some time and the combination of her talent and blacktype experience ought to make her tough to beat.
Exactly: Leopardstown maiden winner has chased home Bedtime Story the last twice, only half a length behind last time in the Debutante. Will take more improvement to threaten an upset now.
Lake Victoria: Got the better of Red Letter in a course-and-distance maiden here in June before smart display to win Newmarket Group 3 five weeks ago. Officially rated 5lb inferior to Bedtime Story but beautifully-bred filly looks a top-class prospect in her own right.
Red Letter: Eyecatching second on debut behind Lake Victoria before hacking up in a maiden here on Irish Oaks weekend. Daughter of Frankel is held in high regard and hails from a team that has already won a Group 1 with a juvenile filly this season. Obvious threat to Bedtime Story if her lack of blacktype experience doesn’t count against her.
Simmering: Improving filly has won an Ascot Group 3 and Deauville Group 2 in her first two starts since being snapped up by Al Shaqab Racing (previously runner-up to Fairy Godmother in the Albany Stakes). This a more demanding assignment than last time but did win readily then.
Conclusion
The experience of Bedtime Storyought to be a useful asset here and it seems she’s been trained to peak for this meeting. A reproduction of anything like the performance she delivered to win at Royal Ascot will surely be good enough to collect, albeit Lake Victoria is a top-class prospect too. Red Letter is an unexposed and feared opponent who could be anything but has yet to test her mettle in blacktype company.
