1.35 GAIN The Advantage Series Handicap 7f21y

Mogwli, a likeable gelding who seldom runs a poor race, can gain his second win of the season. The Willie McCreery-trained six-year-old won over a mile at Bellewstown last month but is equally effective at this trip. He seems at his best when the ground is heavy, so in a race that could turn into a real stamina test, he gets the nod.

Nituna has improved with each start this year, finishing runner-up at the Curragh last time. She appreciates an ease and should be well suited to a strongly run race.

2.10 Bahrain Turf Club Knockaire Stakes (Listed Race) 1m

Despite a concern about testing ground, it is hard to get away from Irish 2000 Guineas runner-up Cairo. A Group 3 winner over seven furlongs at this venue last season, the Ballydoyle colt won a listed race on the all-weather at Dundalk before disappointing in the UAE Derby. However, he returned to form when second in the colts’ classic at the Curragh on his most recent start.

Bells On Her Toes proved she belongs in this grade when runner-up to Snapraeterea at Tipperary earlier this month. Andrew Slattery’s filly is weighted to overturn that form on these revised terms.

Subzero could prove to be well treated here off a mark of 81. The three-year-old finished runner-up to a subsequent listed placed horse (now rated 103) in a maiden here in May, before beating a dual winner now rated 89, next time. With Jack Cleary also taking 7lb off, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt looks to have a leading chance.

Joe Masseria will be better suited to the return to a mile, having run well when fourth over seven furlongs at Naas last weekend. The Noel Meade-trained gelding had some very smart premier handicap form earlier in the campaign.

3.20 Thomas’s Of Foxrock “Jim And Kathleen Murphy” Memorial Trigo Stakes (Listed Race) 1m2f

Sprewell has every chance of getting his season back on track now that he is afforded the opportunity to get his toe in. An impressive winner of a Group 3 Derby Trial over course and distance in May, the Jessica Harrington-trained colt subsequently ran a huge race when fourth in the Epsom showpiece. Although below par on his last two starts, the three-year-old may just have been unsuited to conditions.

Layfayette, a proven performer at this level, will have no issues with either trip or ground. Noel Meade’s admirable six-year-old holds strong claims under champion jockey Colin Keane.

3.55 Christmas Festival Tickets On Sale Now Handicap 1m2f

Turbulence is put forward in the hope that first-time cheekpieces might just eke out that extra length or two. The Ross O’Sullivan-trained six-year-old has been unlucky in running on a couple of occasions this term but had no excuses last time. Perhaps, the headgear may help him to concentrate, as he undoubtedly has the ability to win this.

New Hill is back on a winnable mark having taken an age to get some respite from the handicapper. Sheila Lavery’s mare will need to get the breaks at the right time but is capable of going close in this grade.

4.30 Gables Foxrock Cup Maiden 1m1f

Ballsbridge, runner-up at Naas last time, can go one place better now. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was returning from a break, having also run well when fourth on his racecourse debut back in May. The three-year-old should be all the sharper for that recent outing and this looks a winnable maiden. A reproduction of his latest effort should suffice.

Unassuming caught the eye when staying on nicely to finish fifth on racecourse debut at the Curragh in June. Although her subsequent absence is a slight concern, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly shouldn’t be far away if ready.

5.05 Dublin To Bahrain October Handicap (Premier Handicap) 1m4f

Moracana, a course specialist who has won three times here, can add to that impressive record. Sheila Lavery’s mare has improved further this term, winning a listed race at Cork on her reappearance, before suffering a nightmare passage when an unlucky fifth in the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot. Back on familiar terrain she can regain the winning thread.

Imaginarium is a lightly raced gelding who has acquitted himself well in premier handicaps on his last two starts. The application of first-time headgear could provide the necessary improvement.
