1.35 Master Chefs Maiden Hurdle 2m 70yds
It all went awry for Mr Percy on his hurdles debut at Gowran when running around before the first and unshipping Daryl Jacob. Connections will surely have schooled him plenty since then and he might just make his flat class count in this company.
Balko D’ange was down the field on his last start at the Punchestown Festival but had shown promise in his two appearances before that, including when fourth in a listed four-year-old bumper here. Banana Three, Jerrari, Kazakh d’Arthel, Rapparee Champ and Korea are shortlist material.
SELECTION: MR PERCY
Next best: Balko D’ange
2.10 Great National South Court Hotel Maiden Hurdle 2m 5f
A maiden hurdle for horses who have run at least three times under rules and have yet to be placed, and the standard is as you’d expect. A tentative nod is given to Spinola Bay, who was sent off a 100/30 chance on debut in the valuable Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper but hasn’t shot the lights out in four starts so far. He didn’t run badly last time, though, and stepping up in trip looks a positive.
Yorkshire Escape is another who wasn’t disgraced at Tramore last time, and that was his second start since joining Declan Queally from Gordon Elliott. Iamagetaway warrants respect in this grade too.
SELECTION: SPINOLA BAY
Next best: Yorkshire Escape

Her lack of a recent run against race-fit rivals is a concern but Jetara brings plenty of classy form to the table and can get the job done if sharp enough after 169 days off. The Jessica Harrington-trained six-year-old won in listed and Grade 3 company last season before three consecutive placed efforts at Grade 1 level. She must give weight away and is trying her longest trip, so how the market assesses her will be interesting to observe.
Riviere d’Etel has an obvious chance on ratings but she was second in this race 12 months ago off a similar layoff when easy to back. The race fitness and sharpness of Champella could see her get in the shake-up, even if this demands a career-best.
SELECTION: JETARA
Next best: Champella
3.20 Focus Capital Novice Hurdle (Listed) 2m 5f
This represents a step up in class from when winning readily in mares-only company at the Listowel Harvest Festival last time, but World Of Fortunes has been impressive in winning her first two starts over hurdles and could prove up to the task.
The selection is wrong at the weights with the Willie Mullins-trained Ninth Titan, who posted a fine effort when second at the Galway Festival two starts ago but needs to bounce back from a defeat at Kilbeggan last time. Big Chou and A Tipp For Gold are both unexposed in this sphere.
SELECTION: WORLD OF FORTUNES
Next best: Ninth Titan
3.50 Limerick Show Handicap Hurdle 2m 70yds
Having just been touched off at Sligo last time, Luimneach can gain compensation and prove a popular winner with the locals for J.P. McManus. He got nudged up 3lb for that latest effort but actually drops in class here and that should be a good fit, despite having to shoulder plenty of weight. This trainer-rider-owner combination got on the scoresheet with their latest representative together at Gowran.
Slip Jig is open to improvement as a lightly raced maiden hurdle winner, though Brilliant Light probably makes most appeal of the remainder. A good third at Listowel last time, he’s made a decent transition to hurdling.
SELECTION: LUIMNEACH
Next best: Brilliant Light
4.25 Race Displays Handicap Hurdle (Div I) 2m 5f
Hees Dynamite has put two decent efforts back to back in his last two handicap hurdle starts and could make it 13th time lucky for Eric McNamara. It looks as though he should be comfortable on this type of ground and the trip poses no concern.
Will It Be You lacks a recent run but signed off with a win at Ballinrobe when last seen. Divilabother was just behind West Clare, who beat Hees Dynamite at Listowel, when third at Galway last time. First-time cheekpieces could eke out more in him.
SELECTION: HEES DYNAMITE
Next best: Divilabother
4.55 Race Displays Handicap Hurdle (Div II) 2m 5f
Fresh from winning over three miles at Fairyhouse last time, Ranger Billy can defy a 5lb rise given the fact he remains in this basement 80-95 handicap grade. Perhaps he needs further to be seen at his best but he comes here in fine form and has run well here before.
Lispopple popped up at 22/1 at Roscommon last time and got hit with an 8lb hike. This trip looks ideal and he seems to have improved for blinkers. Le Grand Vert ran well over fences last time and races off 5lb lower now back hurdling.
SELECTION: RANGER BILLY
Next best: Lispopple

Three of the seven runners are winners, and the experience of Switch From Diesel could count for plenty over the likes of Korinthia, who created a decent impression when winning a Wexford bumper on her only start for Willie Mullins. Switch From Diesel, runner-up in Grade 2 company at the Dublin Racing Festival before seventh of 12 in the Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown in May, hasn’t run for 171 days and has joined Ross O’Sullivan in the interim.
At Wexford, Korinthia had today’s rival Amboyna behind, and that mare ran out a clear-cut winner at Tramore since.
SELECTION: SWITCH FROM DIESEL
Next best: Korinthia
