2.00 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden 1m

Two million guineas yearling Galvestown disappointed on debut, but his short price that day suggests he’s capable of much more. Stablemate Jousting cost $1.2 million and is a full-brother to a multiple Grade 1 winner.

Local Lad entered notebooks when finishing fourth on debut in the Marble Hill, but was a beaten favourite next time. Watch the market for support, particularly for well-related newcomer Nuit.

Uncanny’s debut second reads well as the winner is now rated 95, while Ocean Manifest beat a now 93-rated horse on debut. Something was amiss next time, but he should shape well for the break.

Sacred Oath also has to bounce back, and perhaps this drop in trip will do the trick. Auburn Avenue is rated below their form, but her course-and-distance third puts her in the mix.

SELECTION: UNCANNY

3.10 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Birdcatcher Premier Nursery Handicap 6f

Disappointing 14 of possible 24 declared. The Parthenon tops the ratings, but hasn’t lived up to the promise of his debut fifth in the Marble Hill.

Kodilicious’s mark also seems steep given the 72-rated (Smoke Them Out reopposes today at 81) and 69-rated horses bookending her last time, though her beaten rival at Sligo is now rated 101 after a hat-trick.

Last Encore also ran in that Sligo maiden and looks capable of reversing the placings. The same form links with the promising Temperance, who runs off a low weight.

SELECTION: TEMPERANCE

3.50 Listed RFL Steels Stakes 6f

The progressive My Mate Alfie heads a competitive field and has to defy a penalty this time against recent rivals Big Gossey, Tango Flare and Torivega.

They all deserve respect, though it’s concerning that Sheila Lavery’s charge hasn’t won in over a year. Big Gossey’s best form is at the Curragh, but it’s hard to ignore his second to My Mate Alfie last time, especially with today’s penalty.

SELECTION: BIG GOSSEY

Next best: My Mate Alfie

4.25 Tote.ie Handicap 6f

Stag Night impressed in this last year, but has been in the handicapper’s chokehold since, while runner-up Jon Riggens must bounce back from a disappointing run in the Bold Lad.

Stablemate Heavenly Power fared better that day, just a neck in front of Apache Outlaw and further ahead of Laugh A Minute, Moltophino and Universally.

SELECTION: HEAVENLY POWER

Next best: Jon Riggens

5.00 Oktoberfest Weekend Handicap 7f

Several in good form recently, notably No More Porter, who had a 92-rated horse behind him at the Curragh last time. Rahmi is more than capable based on his best form, though he’s not the most consistent. He should like a cut in the ground, as will Earls.

SELECTION: NO MORE PORTER

Previous form puts Finsceal Luas ahead of Iseult Of Ireland and Final Curtain, though that came over a furlong further. Whispersinthewind’s best runs have come over this trip, though that was at Dundalk.
