1.22 Irish EBF Median Sires
Series Fillies Maiden 7f
Fourth on her racecourse debut at Leopardstown last month, Twolatebabydoll would almost certainly have finished closer but for meeting traffic problems at a crucial stage of the race. Staying on strongly once in the clear inside the final furlong, the Cormac Farrell-trained filly should be all the better for that initial experience.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained Celtic Motif also made a pleasing start to her racing career when third at the Curragh earlier this month. She, too, should be capable of better now that she has had that introduction.
SELECTION: TWOLATEBABYDOLL
Next best: Celtic Motif
1.57 Irish Stallion Farms EBF
Fillies Maiden 5f 205y
Oxford Rock holds leading claims here as she reverts to maiden class for the first time since her racecourse debut. Runner-up at Tipperary on that occasion, the form has since been well advertised by both the winner and third subsequently. Far from disgraced in Group 2/listed races recently, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly should take beating.
Unlucky in running on her introduction at the Curragh in May, Grande Marques has run with credit on both subsequent starts. Like the selection, she, too, should appreciate returning to these calmer waters.
SELECTION: OXFORD ROCK
Next best: Grande Marques
2.32 Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden 5f 205y
Navan runner-up Rion Rubette should have every chance if being drawn in the lowest stall doesn’t prove a negative.
With the bias tending to change from meeting to meeting, it is difficult to be sure which side is favoured. On the basis of her promising introduction at the Co Meath track last month, the Michael Butler-trained filly should make her presence felt.
Regal Diamond was a disappointing favourite at Sligo last time but had run a big race when second in stronger company at Leopardstown prior to that. A reproduction of that earlier effort would make him a leading contender.
SELECTION: RION RUBETTE
Next best: Regal Diamond
3.07 Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF
Ballyogan Stakes (Group 3)
(Fillies & Mares) 5f 205y
English raider Nighteyes can follow up her recent victory over course and distance. The David O’Meara-trained filly suffered a slightly interrupted passage before quickening right away from her rivals inside the final furlong to win easily. A progressive young three-year-old, the Night Of Thunder filly could be open to more improvement.
Firebird is the unknown quantity in the race as Paddy Twomey’s lightly-raced filly could be anything. Runner-up on her only start for previous connections, the Lope De Vega filly was hugely impressive over course and distance last time.
SELECTION: NIGHTEYES
Next best: Firebird
3.42 Persian Force At Tally-Ho Handicap 5f
The Susan Finn-trained Mymomentintime should take beating off a mark of 58. Having been campaigned in much higher grades since easily opening his account off just 1lb lower at the Curragh in 2022, the five-year-old should appreciate dropping down to this class for the first time in almost two years.
Recent Cork winner Ginormous will find this harder having been hit with an 8lb hike but the Micky Fenton-trained three-year-old could have further improvement in him. Given that the yard has been amongst the winners of late, the former George Scott-trained gelding has to be a leading contender in an open looking contest.
SELECTION: MYMOMENTINTIME
Next best: Ginormous
4.17 Hartes Group Apprentice Handicap (Division l) 1m 2f 84y
Fitted with cheekpieces on her handicap debut, the Dermot Weld-trained Daboya can register a first success. Runner-up at Gowran Park in June, the daughter of Gleneagles may not have stayed the trip when stepped up an additional two furlongs at Limerick on her third run. Back at a more favoured distance, the three-year-old catches the eye.
Hasten Slowly arrives here in fine form having won her maiden hurdle at Tramore last time. John McConnell’s mare is a previous winner at this venue, while she has also won at the distance.
SELECTION: DABOYA
Next best: Hasten Slowly
4.52 Hartes Group Apprentice Handicap (Division ll) 1m 2f 84y
Mooretown Lad should be capable of following up his recent Leopardstown win for trainer Michael O’Callaghan. A full-brother to a Group 2 winner, the four-year-old is a slow maturing type who should be open to more improvement. Now only 3lb higher than last time, it would be no surprise to see him win again.
Abbey Actress has a somewhat inconsistent profile but if reproducing her Curragh maiden fifth or recent third on handicap debut at Galway, the John O’Donoghue-trained filly won’t be far way.
SELECTION: MOORETOWN LAD
Next best: Abbey Actress
5.27 TRM Speedxcell Multi
Vitamin And Mineral Tonic Handicap 1m 2f 84y
Top-weight Shayzann should take beating provided the ground doesn’t ease any further. The Johnny Murtagh-trained four-year-old ran a huge race at Gowran Park last time when only narrowly failing to concede 14lb to a decent filly. While the gelding again has to give weight away in this race, he might be capable of doing so.
A maiden winner at the Curragh on debut last season, Tamrat has failed to add to that success thus far. Now dropping back in trip with blinkers applied, the Ger Lyons-trained colt is worth another chance.
SELECTION: SHAYZANN
Next best: Tamrat
