Only beaten a neck in this race last year, Ash Tree Meadow can go one better as he arrives here riding the crest of a wave with four graded wins over fences in his last six starts. Gordon Elliott’s likeable eight-year-old showed his wellbeing when winning at Killarney just under four weeks ago and, while his hurdles form isn’t anything as strong as his chasing form, he might well just be an improved horse since he was campaigned over flights.

US Grade 1 winner Scaramanga must give the selection 6lb and hasn’t been seen for 314 days, but he rates the likeliest danger. Fascile Mode has a bit to find on ratings but won’t be found wanting for sharpness in this discipline.

A competitive affair in which Solitary Man is preferred for Enda Bolger after a smart transition to fences at Killarney last time when beating subsequent eight-length Mayo National winner Duffle Coat. A listed-winning novice hurdler last season, he looks the type to progress in this sphere.

Easy Fella won readily at Tipperary last time and needs respecting, as does the only mare in the line-up, Saylavee, who collected pretty comfortably at Killarney last time too.

2.20 Punchestown Handicap Chase

Slip Of The Tongue disappointed in a listed novice handicap chase when last seen in February but has looked an interesting handicap candidate at times before and gets a tentative nod on his first start in a tongue-tie. He has been set stiffer tasks than this before and it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that he might appreciate getting onto this sounder surface. He’s now rated 13lb lower over fences than is the case over hurdles.

Jasmin De Cotte steps up in class after a Kilbeggan win and holds reasonable claims, Mousey Brown is up 10lb for his recent win at the same track but has an attractive weight of 10st 1lb when factoring in Paddy O’Hanlon’s claim. Mars Harper probably needs to come down the weights a little but has decent form here and will appreciate these calmer waters than he’s been facing lately.

A solid turnout for this lady riders’ race with 17 declared, and it could be left to one of the leading female jockeys in the country to collect the prize. Aine O’Connor is a positive booking for Joyeux Vivo, who has threatened to win a race like this before, has good form at this track and looks to be operating at a suitable trip.

Purse Price had her confidence boosted with a chase win last week at Tramore in a race that probably lacked depth. Must Be Dreaming is 1 from 19 over hurdles, though has been running well of late and has a top booking with Jody Townend.

There probably isn’t a huge amount of depth to this race and Just For Love has an appealing enough profile. Trained by Willie Mullins, making her hurdles bow after a successful bumper debut at Galway last September and bred to be useful out of an unraced sister to triple Grade 1-winner Outlander, she has plenty going for her. Rosalys showed potential on her stable debut last autumn but was a touch disappointing as 5/4 favourite when third at Cork last month. She could improve from that after a layoff. Two Become One could be a bargain buy at just £2,000 on the basis of her Kilbeggan second on her first start for Gordon Elliott.

Uncle Pat has been absent for 301 days since his odds-on bumper win at Downpatrick but he looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark over hurdles at the first attempt. He appeared to stay well over two miles and three furlongs on that occasion up a stiff finish, so this test of stamina could well be to his liking.

Topgun Simmy has useful enough bumper form and is entitled to come on for his recent hurdling debut over half a mile shorter than this at Kilbeggan. Chosen Thyme, rated 114, is a danger given his experience in this sphere.

This is a drop in class for Barry Lyndon after finishing sixth behind some useful sorts at the festival here last month and he could be up to defying top-weight for Dermot McLoughlin, who has been among the winners of late. It’s possible he’ll find improvement for trying this longer trip for the first time, though it is an unknown.

Donkey Years will have no stamina concerns and his couple of runs in this discipline since returning from a lengthy absence have been solid enough. If he can find a little extra at a track he’s won at before (admittedly over fences), he should be in the shake-up.

5.15 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race 2m 125yds

Sansrisk was rewarded for her consistency when getting off the mark at Downpatrick last time and could well double up if gaining confidence from that breakthrough. She has bundles of experience to call on, seemed to appreciate decent ground on her most recent start and met some quality types over the winter so should be at home in this grade.

Plenty hold chances, including last week’s Tramore winner Fillusin, though Penelope’s Charm could be the one to give the selection most to think about. Her latest third in listed company behind Familiar Dreams was a fairly encouraging effort.
