THE name For Pleasure is synonymous with show jumping at the very highest levels. The four-time winner of team gold has one of the longest and richest careers in show jumping history, not to mention his prolific breeding career where he has not only proven himself time and again as a sire of top class show jumpers, but also as a sire of sires.
In an exciting development for the Irish sport horse breeding industry, one of For Pleasure’s top ranked progeny - the striking chesnut stallion Another Pleasure - has just arrived to stand in Ireland for the 2021 season.
Born in 2005, Another Pleasure has himself jumped to 1.60m level and has represented The Netherlands on Nations Cup teams 13 times.
With 124 international starts and two championships to his name, Another Pleasure combines proven performance at the highest level with some of the very best show jumping genes in the world.
Every successful breeder understands the importance of a proven dam line and with over five generations of blacktype dam line that has produced numerous 1.50m and 1.60m jumpers, including Lupo 114 (Zandor RV) (1.60m), Maserati (1.60m), Santa Rosa Valery (1.60m) and VDL Orestus (1.60m), Another Pleasure has a dam line that will be the envy of most.
The stallion’s dam line extends back to the ‘Elrite Hoeve’ stud farm in the northern part of The Netherlands, with another notable sibling to Another’s Pleasure’s grand dam being the approved KWPN stallion and Grand Prix winner Hamilton and the designated stallion Sharif.
Noble Stallions
Licensed by the prestigious Oldenburg studbook, Another Pleasure has been brought to Ireland by Tony Noble of Noble Stallions. Well known for many years as both a successful breeder and producer of show jumpers, Noble was part of the partnership, Infinity Investments, who brought Cobra 18, the superb son of Cornet Obolensky and sire of Dublin (1.60m), to stand in Ireland in 2015.
After three incredibly successful breeding seasons here, Cobra 18 was unfortunately lost to a severe colic attack, but fortunately breeders can still benefit from his superb genetics with frozen semen available on a straw or pregnancy basis.
Noble commented: “Following the success of and the very sad loss of Cobra 18, I had been contacted several times with options on other stallions. However, when the opportunity to purchase Another Pleasure arose, it was the first time that I really became excited about another stallion since losing Cobra 18.
“We believe him to be the only son of For Pleasure physically standing in Ireland today and I think he brings something very special to sport horse breeding in Ireland.”
Complete package
Standing an impressive 172cm, Another Pleasure also has the world-renowned Ramiro Z in his dam line, just as Cobra 18 has. Noble continued: “In a similar way to Cobra 18, I love everything about this stallion. I love his breeding, his size and his stature - he has incredible presence and is tall, extremely handsome and has a fantastic temperament.
“He looks a pure quality, blood horse and has always been extremely rideable with a lovely, easy way of going. You can see that in his previous performances, many of which can easily be viewed on the Noble Stallions Facebook page.”
Previously named Forani, Another Pleasure was purchased privately as a six-year-old achieving an auction-topping price of €190,000 at the Wolden Summer Sale.
His then new owners renamed him Another Pleasure and he went on to pursue his competitive show jumping career under a number of top riders, including Robert Vos and Peter Geerink.
Some of Another Pleasure’s most notable successes under Robert Vos include wins at the CSI3* at Geesteren (NED) and Sint-Katelijne-Waver (BEL), was second in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Zuidwolde (NED) and third in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Ising am Chiemsee (GER) and Sibculo (NED). Under Peter Geerink, the stallion was second at the Grand Prix of Leszno (POL), Mariënheem (NED) and Zuidwolde (NED) and third in Grand Prix CSI3* at San Giovanni in Italy.
Asset to Irish breeders
Having clocked up these and numerous successes up to 1.60m level, represented The Netherlands on many occasions and achieving many wins and 35 top 10 placings at international two and three-star level, Another Pleasure retired from competition fit and sound last year, after 11 successful years of jumping with the same owners.
Following his retirement, Tony seized the opportunity to add him to the Noble Stallions portfolio and bring him to Ireland for the 2021 breeding season.
