SINCE his arrival in Ireland 3 short years ago to stand at Tullaghansleek Stud under the Noble Stallions banner, Another Pleasure has rapidly become a standout choice for breeders looking to produce top-tier sport horses.
By the prolific showjumping stallion For Pleasure, the now 19-year-old Another Pleasure has himself jumped to 1.60m and represented The Netherlands many times at nations cups shows. With 124 international starts and 2 championships to his name, Another Pleasure combines a proven performance at the highest level with some of the very best show jumping genes in the world.
A Sire of Champions
Another Pleasure’s impact on performance breeding in Ireland is already evident through the many titles his early progeny have secured.
The stallion’s first crop produced the Reserve All-Ireland Colt Foal, a striking chestnut colt by Another Pleasure x Master Imp, bred by Pat Carty.
Last year, the titles came thick and fast. The 2023 Horse Sport Ireland Showjumping Foal Championship was won by Pleasure for Sure (ISH), a filly foal by Another Pleasure out of Donogue Cavalier Girl (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOSLT), bred and owned by Ciaran Ward. Clearly demonstrating Another Pleasure’s versatility as a sire beyond the showjumping arena, the Reserve HSI Eventing Foal at the final qualifier was a filly by Another Pleasure, this time out of Nautilus Vivendi (ISH), damsire ARS Vivendi (HOLST), bred by Oliver Higgins. And the 2023 Champion Yearling at Granard Show was Another Pleasure sired Longford Another Star, bred by Timothy Carey.
Showjumping Royalty
The name For Pleasure is synonymous with show jumping at the very highest levels. The four times winner of team gold has one of the longest and richest careers in showjumping history, not to mention his prolific breeding career where he has not only proven himself time and again as a sire of top class show jumpers, but also as a sire of sires.
Every successful breeder understands the importance of a proven dam line and with over 5 generations of black type dam line that has produced numerous 1.50m and 1.60m jumpers, including Lupo 114 (Zandor RV) (1.60m), Maserati (1.60m), Santa Rosa Valery (1.60m) and VDL Orestus (1.60m), Another Pleasure has a dam line that is the envy of most. The stallion’s dam line extends back to the ‘Elrite Hoeve’ stud farm in the northern part of the Netherlands, with another notable sibling to Another’s Pleasure’s grand dam being the approved KWPN stallion and Grand Prix winner Hamilton and the designated stallion Sharif.
A Noble Connection
Licensed by the prestigious Oldenburg stud book, Another Pleasure was first brought to Ireland in 2021 by Tony Noble of Noble Stallions. Well known for many years as both a successful breeder and producer of show jumpers, Noble was part of a partnership that brought Cobra 18, the superb son of Cornet Obolensky and sire of Dublin (1.60m), to stand in Ireland in 2015. After 3 incredibly successful breeding seasons here, Cobra 18 was unfortunately lost to a severe colic attack, but with a limited supply of frozen semen remaining, breeders can still benefit from his superb genetics and add to the growing roll call of outstanding Cobra 18 progeny.
Standing an impressive 172cm, Another Pleasure also has the world-renowned Ramiro Z in his dam line, just as Cobra 18 has. Noble comments “I love everything about Another Pleasure. I love his breeding, his size and his stature – he has incredible presence and is tall, extremely handsome and has a fantastic temperament.
He looks a pure quality, blood horse and has always been extremely rideable with a lovely, easy way of going. You can see that in his previous performances, many of which can easily be viewed on the Noble Stallions Facebook page. I am thrilled about the success and return breeders are having from his progeny. His offspring show outstanding quality, conformation, and athleticism and it’s fantastic to see this recognised in the show ring and at HSI championships.”
Proven Performance
Some of Another Pleasures most notable successes under Robert Vos include wins at the CSI3* at Geesteren (NED) and Sint-Katelijne-Waver (BEL), second in the CSI2* GP at Zuidwolde (NED) and 3rd in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Ising am Chiemsee (GER) and Sibculo (NED). Under Peter Geerink, the stallion was 2nd at the Grand Prix of Leszno (POL), Mariënheem (NED) and Zuidwolde (NED) and 3rd in Grand Prix CSI3* at San Giovanni in Italy.
Having clocked up these and numerous successes up to 1.60m level, represented The Netherlands on many occasions and achieving many wins and 35 top 10 placings at international 2 & 3 star level, Another Pleasure retired from competition fit and sound in 2020, after 11 successful years of jumping with the same owners. Following his retirement, Noble seized the opportunity to add him to the Noble Stallions portfolio and bring him to Ireland to stand at stud, ensure that Irish breeders can benefit from everything that this exceptional stallion has to offer.
A History of Breeding Success
Tullaghansleek Stud is one of Ireland’s oldest family-owned and managed stud farms. Centrally located just outside Mullingar in Co. Westmeath and just over one hour west of Dublin airport, an incredible seven generations of the Carey family have and continue to live on and run the farm. With a purpose built Equine A.I. Laboratory and Station, the team Tullaghansleek work hard for the breeder, providing a superb range of services to breeders that don’t break the bank and their great reputation and high volume of returning customers is well deserved.
On Another Pleasure, Tim Carey comments: “It’s impossible to fault Another Pleasure. He’s a very impressive horse that has it all – performance, substance, athleticism and excellent conformation – and is proving to be a great asset to Irish breeders”. Tim added “he has a wonderful temperament to go with his class, just like his father.”
Another Pleasure is available for AI by fresh and chilled semen. Semen is excellent quality with incredible fertility resulting in successful pregnancies and mares can be taken at the stud or semen can be delivered throughout Ireland.
