Time: 7pm. Viewing in the arena 6pm. Total lots: 25
Last year’s top lot: Matthew McBreen’s colt foal by Tangelo Van de Zuuthoeve (out of Jumeirah by Ard VDL Douglas) €15,500.
NEXT week marks the seventh renewal of the Cavan Elite Foal sale where 25 pre-selected foals will come under the hammer during the international show jumping show on Thursday evening. This has proved a natural and fitting date for this flagship sale, and posting an impressive catalogue, connections will be hoping to emulate last year’s figures or better them.
Unsurprisingly, imported bloodlines fill both the dam and the sire pedigrees, and although not one sire is truly dominant, heading this year’s numerical list of covering stallions with two lots forward are Diamant du Semilly and Tyson.
As it was last year, the catalogue itself is glossy and informative, with the information about each lot spanning two pages, and accompanied by photographs of the foal, the sire and in some cases, well known relations.
