WRAPPING up a busy few weeks for the Clarke family at Cavan and following dispersals of foals, young stock and native breeds, next Wednesday focuses on the older sport horse sector. Staged on just one day this year, the catalogue of 154 lots offers the usual selection of ponies and horses, among which are a notable number of proven and potential hunters.
The decrease in entries is across the board, but significantly in the pony section which offers just 33 ponies in comparison to the 63 catalogued 12 months ago.
This deficit appears to be made up in quality however, while catching the eye later in the day are a selection of hunters as well a high-class group of three-year-olds (44).
The stallion lists are varied, but standing out with six on offer is the enduringly popular Sligo Candy Boy (6). Sharing four apiece meanwhile, are the Kennedy-owned trio of Future Trend, OBOS Quality and KEC Maximum Joe.
