THERE are nine five-year-olds on offer at the upcoming Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale, five of whom are home-bred including all three mares.
A five-year-old gelding with a strong performance record is Belline Equestrian Ltd’s Belline Newmarket Delight (Lot 5) who comes from the family of Global Quest (CCI4*-L). By Newmarket Venture out of the Castlecomer Q mare Obrian Delight, this chesnut has 24 Show Jumping Ireland points and 15 Eventing Ireland points to his credit.
In 2021, Belline Newmarket Delight won a Horse Sport Ireland development series EI90 event for four-year-olds at Punchestown. This past season, he won an EI110 at Frankfort Stud and a HSI development series EI100 for five-year-olds at Punchestown. He finished fourth, on his dressage score, in the EI110 National Championship at Lisgarvan House and eighth, on his flatwork mark, in the CCI1* five/six-year-old horses-Intro at Ballindenisk. He also won a young event horse qualifier at Tullylish.
The first of the home-bred mares due to come under the hammer is Trade Horse Ltd’s Red Hot Chilli Filly (Lot 3). This Ramiro B bay is out of the Rhoman Rule mare Willows Music and is thus a full-sister of the Go For Gold graduate Red Hot Cooley (CCI4* 8&9yo horses-S). In nine starts under Eventing Ireland Rules, Red Hot Chilli Filly has won twice at EI100 level and has also been placed four times.
Co Clare breeder James Nash is consigning two of the five-year-olds starting with Galway Endeavour (Lot 1), a Future Trend gelding out of Annsfort Coole Robin (by Ricardo Z). The chesnut, who comes from the family of SBT Barolo/CSF High On Life (CCI4*-L) and Amazon JD (CSI4*), is a full-brother of Emerald Endeavour (CCI3*-S) and of Midnight Endeavour who was fourth recently in the CCIYH2*-L for six-year-olds in the FEI world breeding championships for young event horses at Le Lion d’Angers.
Peter Smyth’s CFH Quiet Point (Lot 2) is not only one of the few traditionally bred Irish Sport Horses in the sale but this Pointilliste gelding (one of three in the sale by the thoroughbred sire), who is out of Quiet Diamond Lady (by Its The Quiet Man) and has amassed 22 SJI points, was hunted last season.
Home-bred by vendor Hans Kuehnle, Tullibards Get Ready Freddy (Lot 7) is a gelding by Tullibards Bennys Legacy out of the Waikiki mare Sallymount Monalisa. The chesnut, who finished fourth in an EI90 at Hillcrest in June, was runner-up in his Dubarry Burghley young event horse qualifier at the Tattersalls July Show before winning his eventing discovery class at the Millstreet international the following month.
