SEVENTEEN of the 80 lots catalogued in the upcoming Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale are fillies or mares and of that number six are home-breds, including the first two lots to come under the hammer.
BGS Sport Horses’ Irish Sport Horse bay BGS Easy Peazy (Lot 2) is a six-year-old by the Belgian Warmblood stallion Ramiro B; she has won and been placed at EI100 and 1.10m level and is a half-sister to, among others, the Capitalist mare BGS Juicyfruit (CCI4*-L). By the Dutch Warmblood stallion Carrera VDL, Dan Dennehy’s Danos Lola (Lot 3) is out of a traditionally bred Cruising mare from the family of Dromgurrihy Blue (CCI4*).
The home-bred bracket also includes Christy O’Sullivan’s unnamed four-year-old chesnut (Lot 24) by the Dutch Warmblood stallion Hype out of a traditionally bred Master Imp half-sister to the Cult Hero gelding Kilroe Hero (CCI4*).
There is also a trio of three-year-olds, viz Brian Flynn and Meabh Bolger’s MBF Starburst (Lot 25), a Sligo Candy Boy (ISH) half-sister to the Country Lone Ranger gelding Chincalease Cowboy (CCI3*-L); Lot 64, Emillie Pickerking’s unnamed chesnut daughter of the hugely popular Oldenburg stallion OBOS Quality 004 out of a Cobra mare; and AKD Infinity (Lot 70), Henry Foley and Bert Denby’s S Creevagh Ferro (KWPN) grey half-sister to the Clinton mare AKD Eclipse (CSI3*).
There is a further quartet of four-year-old fillies viz, Elizabeth Ahern and Felicity Ward’s EPA Elegance (Lot 11), a bay by the Belgian Warmblood sire Wido out of a Dow Jones Courcel mare who comes from the family of HHS 007 (CSIO5*) and Fernhill Ambassador (CCI4*-S); Jason Higgins and Brian Flynn’s Rathnageera MBF (Lot 12), a bay by the Holsteiner stallion Colandro who has competed at training shows and shows a good attitude to cross-country; Storm Oxley’s Ballygriffin Crossfield Cara (Lot 16), a bay by OBOS Quality 004 out of a High Roller (ISH) mare, who has been placed twice in three EI90 starts and is a half-sister to the Chacoa gelding Sportsfield Adventure (CCI4*-S) among others; and Beechfield Stables’ CFH Dakars Girl (Lot 21), a chesnut by the Dutch Warmblood stallion Dakar VDL out of an Ars Vivendi mare and a half-sister to the Querlybet Hero gelding Vivendi Hero (CCIYH2*-S).
Two of the remaining three-year-old fillies have an MBF prefix and it would be hard to find anything to rival the breeding of Brian Flynn and Meabh Bolger’s MBF Senorita (Lot 51) who is a bay by Ramiro B out of the Spanish-bred Beca (CCI2*), a daughter of Fines and a full-sister to Armada (CCI4*), Nereo (CCI4*), etc.
In partnership with Henry Foley, Flynn is also consigning MBF Dignified Duchess (Lot 52) who is one of eight horses in the sale by the locally based Belgian Warmblood stallion Dignified van’t Zorgvliet. The bay comes from the family of Cooley Master Class (CCI5*-L).
Jason Higgins has entered the flashy Flirtation (Lot 30), a bay by the Belgian Warmblood Je T’Aime Flamenco out of a VDL Arkansas mare; D.J. O’Sullivan offers Lot 35, a Sligo Candy Boy bay out of a Power Blade mare; and Vincent Meaney is selling Curraghgraigue Q Hill (Lot 79), an OBOS Quality 004 bay from the family of A Sportsfield Cayenne (CCI3*-S). Dessie Gibson’s Sligo Candy Boy bay (Lot 81) is out of a Newmarket Jewel half-sister to the Newmarket Venture gelding Newmarket Caro (CCI3*-L).
