Hazel Arch Farm is a family-run sport horse stud farm set in the Slieve Bloom foothills near Mountrath and run by David Molloy and his German-born partner, Jasmin Goll.

In operation since 2007, their foundation stallion is the homebred stallion Portlaoise First Tuch. This traditionally-bred stallion became the first Errigal Flight son to achieve Preliminary Approved status at Horse Sport Ireland’s inspections in 2013, the same year in which he qualified for the Dublin four-year-old classes. His first foal crop arrived in 2015, which coincided with his first full season at stud and was followed by a number of double clear rounds at 1.20m level.

Hazel Arch Farm offers breeders a choice of traditional lines in this Errigal Flight-Ard Black Cat cross or with their new continental arrival, Udancer Hero.

UDANCER HERO

2001. 167cms

HSI classification:Not yet presented.

THE arrival of Udancer Hero at Hazel Arch Farm began with an introduction through Andrea Etter to the successful Belgian breeder Luc Henry of Stud Hero last September. Talks to bring the SBS-approved Udancer Hero to Ireland began once Molloy had seen the horse, stood by Luc’s late father Andre, his damline’s family and his Belgian-born youngstock.

Now owned in partnership with the Henry family, Udancer Hero is by the French show jumping thoroughbred Dancer Prince and counts the exceptional Voltaire broodmare Femke P, who has produced multiple Grand Prix and Nations Cup horses, as his dam. From her 18 foals, no less than 11 have competed from 1.40m to 1.60 metre level, including Intradella Z, Jerom and Moujik De Sohan. As a four year old, Udancer Hero won eight classes in the Belgian Classic Cycle series, with a further three wins as a five-year-old. He then competed at 1.40m level with Jerome Guery, who placed at Wisbecq CSI*** with ‘Hero’ and Pieter Devos.

Udancer Hero’s connections struck gold when Liscalgot, Dermot Lennon’s 2002 World Championship-winning mare, was amongst his book of mares. That offspring Calgot Hero, who has competed in 1.45m classes, is one of several of his performers to date. Others include Vivaldi D’Hyrencourt, Bolero D’Hyrencourt, who recently won a 1.40m class at Roosendaal CSI**, and the dual Lanaken finalist, Chopin D’Hyrencourt.

Other top mares covered by him include Mirette Du Bosquetiau (a half-sister to Rothchild), Juminka (a half-sister to Iowa) and Uranie D’Hyrencourt (dam of Chopin D’Hyrencourt, Darwin D’Hyrencourt and Crooner D’Hyrencourt). His connections believe that Udancer Hero has much to offer Irish mares with his top jumping genetics, great canter and direct cross of thoroughbred blood, which makes him an option for both show jumping and eventing breeders.

Udancer Hero will be presented at the upcoming HSI stallion inspections in Cavan but is approved by the SBS since 2004 and has already met the performance requirements for full approval in the Irish Sport Horse studbook too. Udancer Hero will be available nationwide via chilled semen and his 2016 stud fee (€800) includes a live foal guarantee.
