HEADING into week two of the six-day sale at Goresbridge, the spotlight falls on the all-important three-year-old sector.
For pin hookers and producers alike this is the feature of the marathon, which also acts as a bench mark for the general foal sales next month. This year’s increased catalogue of 475 lots has plenty to recommend, and with blacktype pedigrees appearing in abundance, there is a quantity of notably well-bred individuals. Among these are well-related fillies, both from strong continental lines as well as from the more traditional and standing out among them is a half-sister to the CCI5* event mare Santiago Bay.
Most of the well-known stallions feature in the list of covering sires, most obviously the Coolballyshan resident duo Vivant Van de Heffinck and Lagans OBOS Quality. As he did in week one, the former dominates the entry with 25 progeny on offer, while stable mate Lagans OBOS Quality is also well represented with 13.
Separating the two, HHS Cornet proves popular with 16 entries, and flying the thoroughbred flag with seven apiece are the two Slyguff residents Golden Master and Pointilliste.
