Total lots: Performance Sale 147 lots

Last year’s top lot: Kevin Egan’s Tzar, 10-year-old gelding by Orestus (dam unrecorded) €12,200.

IT has been a busy month for the sale’s team at Cavan and, moving on into October, they host a sport horse renewal next Tuesday. Offering a catalogue of 147 lots, which is in line with that of 12 months ago, the emphasis falls on competition horses with form, as well as hunters/all-rounders. With the latter season on the horizon, there are numerous hunters with solid mileage, as well as a notable collection of all-rounders, many with top class form.

The closing sector for three-year-olds also looks promising, with many sporting stout black-type maternal pedigrees, accompanied by top commercial sires. Illustrating this, the stallion list is headed by the enduringly popular Sligo Candy Boy (12), while Vivant Van’t de Heffinck is also well-represented with nine.
