THE red ribbon in the EI110 J went to Allanah Kelly, who wasted no time in getting acquainted with her new ride Albert VI. Exported from England, where only last month he was campaigned to CCI3*S level by Chelsea Pearce, the Dutch-bred gelding led the five runners by a distance. He opened on a score of 24.8, and despite tipping a rail in the show jumping remained over four penalties in front of Bryan Bourke, who produced the sole double clear round with Kilrodan Exchange.

There were the same number of starters in the following EI110P, but none could better Alex Connors, who racked up her second win from five runs of the current campaign with Millridge Buachaill Bui. Double-handed, Connors led the dressage on 24.8, and while Ruth Burke slotted into second with the clean jumping Atlantic Dreamer, the Kildare rider also produced a faultless performance with Knockborden Revelation to fill third.

Carol Gee will have been pleased to see her Fernhill prefixed ponies filling the top two places in the EI100P. Kilian Murphy with Fernhill First Light took the spoils, while the previous day’s Glaslough winners, Susan Shanahan and Fernhill Mix and Match, settled for second. Dressage leader Ted O’Leary (Feagh Delamain) lost his chance when picking up a costly 20 penalties in the country, but compensated when winning the subsequent EI100 J with My Ballintoghers Crackerjack. O’Leary is on a roll in both the junior and pony ranks, and with his latter mount, remains unbeaten from only two runs. Their route to the top was eased when dressage leaders Emma O’Callaghan Crinnish Mist incurred 20 penalties in the country, but O’Leary still completed four marks ahead of Sarah Fitzpatrick with Odins Pride. Paul Burke’s dressage leader and Kilguilkey winner Stepping Spartacus got no further than the second fence in the EI90Pbut benefitting to win the class of three was Camilla Ryan and Forest Buddy.
