CATHAL Daniels’ stable at Tully East posted a rewarding one/two in the first sector of the EI100. While Daniels himself had to settle for second spot with his sister Regina’s first-timer Diplomacy Boy, he will not have been disappointed as it was Jennifer Kuehnle who beat him aboard his own Cesario P. The imported nine-year-old by Cinsey proved unbeatable on the flat, and adding nothing further completed in front of both Daniels, and in dressage order, Aoife Goodwin-Boers (Sherwater).

Honours in the second division went to Kim O’Gorman’s five-year Wolf Sparta ridden by Felicity Ward. Originally produced by her owner, who is currently awaiting the birth of her first baby, Wolf Sparta is by Frankfort Boy and the third foal out of her good advanced mare Valencia. In a class which saw the top 11 retain their flat work marks, Wolf Sparta completed in front of Leila Barker with her Blackstairs winner Kimble Beach, and Corentin Gautier (Amadeus Tonto).

The sire Orestus landed his second winner of the day when HVL Ravensdale headed the EI90 under Leanne Foskin. Owned by Sharon Power, and bred by Tina McDermott, HVL Ravensdale led from pillar to post, to better Christine O’Donnell who piloted her mother Miriam’s Point and Go into second, and also Siobhan English’s first-timer Ballycreen Kings Mistress into third.

In addition, there were also two sectors of junior and pony high performance training classes, both of which were won by first time partnerships. The first, which ran over the EI110 track, fell to Susan Shanahan and the smart Eisfee. A successful four-star horse with British international David Doel, Eisfee headed Alex Connors aboard the squad pony Millridge Buachaill Bui. Tiggy Hancock filled third with Coppenagh Spring Sparrow, but went two better in the EI 100 sector in which she led the field with the diminutive Sillogue Sergei. Another new pairing, Hancock and the Connemara pony recorded the sole double clear round, to overtake dressage leaders Hannah Willis (My Beau Beaut) and Scorcha Babe with Lucy Austin in third.
