THE Foran Equine CCI2*L was well supported by Irish riders but it was Cooley Farm-based Amanda Goldsbury who took the top spot for New Zealand with HHS Versace.

Even with a pole falling in the final phase, their score was good enough to take the win ahead of Steven Smith and the thoroughbred Handsome Starr. HHS Versace was recently acquired by Cooley Farm’s Richard Sheane, having previously show jumped by Jenny Rankin up to 1.35m last year and by Ella Clancy this year at Mullingar International.

Cesario P and Corey Jarman led after the dressage phase on a score of 30.7 but following their retirement on the cross- country course Goldsbury and the Marion Hughes-bred HHS Versace, rose to the top of the leaderboard after a clear inside the time around Paul and Allen Brady’s cross-country course.

Nine combinations managed to jump clear inside the time on Saturday but with poles falling on Sunday in the show jumping arena there was a shake up in the leaderboard. Erin McClernon and Seapatrick Beachball added just four faults to their dressage score of 34.9 to finish in third place, their first time on the podium at an international event. This combination are enjoying their second season together and came into the weekend on the back of a win in the EI110J at Loughanmore earlier this month and in Tullymurry last month.
