THE Colliers CCI4*-S class was well supported and a worthy winner was found in Kirsty Chabert and Classic VI. This combination have had numerous successes on Irish soil and managed to lead the class from start to finish, adding nothing to their dressage score of 27.3, the only competitor to do so.
They have made the trip across the pond on eight occasions and have never been outside the top five, clocking up four wins, two seconds and two fifths. Chabert commented: “She certainly has a lot of fun on Irish grass!”
The 15-year-old mare has amassed over a thousand British Eventing points and recently was on the winning Great British team in the Nations Cup at Aachen.
A fan favourite for the home nation, Rioghan Rua made a welcome return to the eventing circuit under Cathal Daniels, picking up second place, adding just 5.2 time penalties to their dressage score of 28.4.
The 17-year-old Jack of Diamonds mare has also earned over a thousand Eventing Ireland points and shows no sign of slowing down just yet.
Rounding out the top three was Jack Pinkney and Claragh Olala, who were contesting the level for the second time as a partnership. The gelding started his career under Michael Ryan, who took him to Le Lion d’Angers as a seven-year-old in 2021.

Kirsty Chabert made sure to make the trip to Mallow worthwhile by doing the double and winning the CCI3*-S class also, this time with Hanerina SSF. One of only two combinations to break the 30 barrier in the dressage, Chabert scored 28.7 and only added 1.2 time penalties on the cross-country to take the win. Previously competed by Nicole Pearson, Chabert took over the reins and began the season with a win in Kronenberg CCI2*-S.
They are heading to the Hartpury International to take part in the British Championship Novice later this month. Sian Coleman and MBF Touch Your Toes also broke into the 20s, but a pole in the show jumping and a steady round cross-country put them out of contention for a podium finish.
In second place was the on-form young rider Godfrey Gibbons and Milchem Miami on a score of 32.4. This combination, along with Gibbons’ other horse Milchem Free Spirit, have recently been named on the Young Rider Eventing Team, which will go to Strzegom, Poland, later in August. Finishing on the same score, but a little bit further from the optimum time was Isabel English and Cil Dara Bombay S. Their second time at this level, the combination managed to jump a double clear and stay on their dressage score of 32.4 to take third place.
