Northern region gears up for

2023 season

THOSE who competed in the Baileys Horse Feeds flexi-eventing series at The Meadows, and so had their hats tagged to the new standards, will be a step ahead of their rivals when the Northern Region of Eventing Ireland holds its annual two-phase event at Tyrella on Saturday next, March 11th.

The ‘House Full’ sign for this fixture went up in early February although the Region’s event coordinator, Dora Beacom, immediately set up a wait list if any places became available.

In six classes, riders will compete over courses of three different heights – 75/80cms, 85/90cms and a metre.

Good news

If you fail to get a run at the two-phase, the good news is that a Go As You Please will be held over the same tracks from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, March 12th, at a cost of £20 per horse/pony.

The EI season in the Northern Region gets underway on Saturday, March 25th with the first of three Lightsource BP-sponsored events at Tyrella. This is an important year for the Region which, for the first time, is staging the Eventing Ireland national championships.

These will be held over the weekend of September 9th and 10th at Castle Irvine, Necarne.
