DENIS Lynch has added another Grand Prix horse to his string in the 12-year-old gelding Chablis, and the combination got off to a good start when finishing third in the two-star Grand Prix at Kronenberg, The Netherlands, last Sunday.

News broke last week that Cian O’Connor was moving his five-star jumping stallion Lukas to Lynch’s stable and he has been boosted further by Chablis, who won a silver medal at the Junior European Championships with Britain’s Robert Murphy in 2018.

Kronenberg was his first outing under Lynch and they were one 15 clears in the first round of the 1.45m Grand Prix, which saw 60 combinations start. Eleven of those managed to keep a clean sheet against the clock to make it a hugely competitive class, and Lynch’s clear in 35.08 seconds was good enough for third place and €3,750. Victory went to Germany’s Christian Ahlmann Dominator 2000 Z (0/0 33.33).

Ivan Dalton was also in action at the venue and he finished second in Friday’s 1.45m jump-off class with Lord Bi, a 10-year-old gelding owned by Dalton’s Butler Court Stables and Sophie Geurts.
