Speaking earlier this week, HSI’s high performance junior eventing team manager Sally Corscadden said: “The Young Rider Squad has had very consistent performances and some great international results at senior level this year. We have riders who know how to win medals and are well prepared for the challenges of the Championships in Portugal.
“The riders have been working hard with our coaches Heike Holstein and Ian Fearon and also have had sessions with sports psychologist Kate Kirby and fitness coach Joe O’Connor.
“The horses have been monitored throughout the year by our team vet Will Lalor.
She continued: “This gives us great confidence to perform to our best and endeavour to bring home a medal for Ireland.”
